‼️‼️. Warning. Cow birth. Blood. Etc. ‼️‼️There is a first time for everything! We had to pull our first highland calf, well the vet did. We just helped. It was so scary. She had been pushing for almost 2 hours before the vet could get to our farm. The legs were just hanging out of her while she would walk around they lay down and push and then get up and walk around some more. We caught her and got her in the chute ready for him. First, he gave her an epidural, so she would not be contracting while he worked to get the calf out. Then, He had to push the calf back in and pull the head forward to align it as it should have been. We honestly thought it was dead, but he said he felt it blink. He worked quickly to pull the head forward using a cinch cable, then put chains around its hooves and we pulled it out using a cone along. Once it’s head was out we knew it was alive because it was looking all around it was trying to breathe but goo was all in its nose. We gave it another couple good pulls and it’s slipped out. We are so thankful for our vet Doc Root, and that God gave us a healthy white heifer. I love a happy ending!!!
