I've never paid attention before - but milkweed has such a lovely floral scent! The bugs on the milkweed are Red Milkweed Beetles - they thrive on milkweed, eating the sap, which makes them unpalatable for predators!

This Sea Holly was covered with pollinators of all kinds this week! I spotted small solitary bees, wasps, and soldier beetles snacking. Soldier beetles are a great beneficial insect because they snack on aphids, mites and caterpillars!

Universal feedback: “Ew, snakes!” 😂 I don’t really mind snakes out here for the same reason I don’t mind spiders—they’ve got important jobs to do. As long as they stay outside, we’re good. Just don’t come into my house!

The rest of the week has been filled with repainting the greenhouse, deadheading peonies, weeding, and arranging flowers for customer orders using all sorts of beautiful blooms from the field.

A little bit of this past week: the last of the tulips came out of the cooler, peony harvest wrapped up, and peonies went out in CSA bunches.

I had some quiet time, bought a bunch of clearance plants I’m excited about, and celebrated 19 years with Paul.

Nothing too fancy, just a full week with a lot to be thankful for!
