I wanted to eat dinner first, but that meant picking corn till dark and watering mums by flashlight.
Wait. What?
You didn't know we already have over 300 mums in stock? Maybe you should come out in the daylight and get some. They're only $14ea or 2 for $25.
Many more to come!

Self-serve, always open (daylight shopping is easiest)

Tomatoes always make us look like fools (or maybe we just are). People start asking in early July when tomatoes will be ready. We've been saying for a couple weeks "soon, very soon, few more days, etc....".
Well, you can see in this picture just how soon. Yes, there's one to the far left that's close. I am finding a few to pick. Most that I am picking are trash and are going on the ground. They are coming - just as soon as they feel like it.

Meanwhile, sweet corn, cantaloupe, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, honey, maple syrup, and 🍉 are all in stock!

Happy Monday! Let's get spicy.
Nearly all peppers start out green. Green is their "immature" color, but obviously still very edible.
All peppers that I know of turn color as they ripen. A red pepper will turn red. An orange pepper will turn orange. A yellow pepper will turn yellow. Those are not stages they go through.
We start picking them when they get to the size we're looking for. Picking the biggest one or two from a plant allows the plant to give the smaller peppers more energy and hopefully make them bigger.
Changing color enhances the flavor. A sweet pepper - bell, marconi, lunchbox, etc..., gets sweeter when it turns color. It does not ever get spicy.
A spicy pepper - jalapeño, Anaheim, habenero, etc..., may get spicier, not sweeter.
Ripe peppers that have changed color may cost more because the longer they hang on the plant out in the wild, the higher risk of it spoiling from disease, fungus, insect damage, even sunburn.
Pic taken up close to avoid showing ugly parts of the garden we don't want you to see.
Tomatoes are coming. Never early enough!!

Hold your phone at arm's length and inhale deeply.
They smell even better in-person.
Available all day, every day at N1155 WI-188, Prairie du Sac.
Self-serve. Individually priced.
Pick out the perfect cantaloupe(s)/muskmelon(s) and galia and drop the money in the slot.
Take home and eat immediately. We pick when ripe - not so that after they travel 1,000 miles, go through the warehouse, sit in the store for a couple days, and get to your house they might be ripe. These are ready NOW.

We posted yesterday how we won't have more sweet corn till Monday. Unfortunately that's still true.

Fortunately, I've heard that the Colby / Zajicek farm at the base of the Baraboo Bluffs currently has an abundance of super sweet corn available.

This great corn can be found at their farm - E10836 Kings Corner Road (a mile west of Hwy 12 just north of Bluffview) or at their satellite location at the corner of 15th St and Grand Ave in Prairie du Sac.

Shop local and have a great weekend!

Our first planting of sweet corn is finished. In technical agronomic terms, it kinda sucked.

The second planting looks better, but unfortunately is not quite ready. Might be Monday before we can pick again.

Very frustrating to see so many cars drive in looking for corn and drive out empty handed and also frustrated.

This pic is of a later planting (3rd, 4th, 5th?) that looks fantastic. We appreciate your patience and many, many rain dances. Bring us rain Friday and we'll get through this.

Meanwhile, we continue picking cucumbers, zucchini, kohlrabi, and tomatoes have started! Peppers and cantaloupe are close, but might be a week or so yet.

Thank you!!
Pray for rain!!

Come and get it! Seriously....Asparagus is piled high, and this will be the last week of it.
