The good news is that the blackberries are ripening up very nicely and the blueberry bushes are looking good too. It's going to be an easy picking kind of day.
We're starting off opening a small number of reservation slots, but the weather forecast looks favorable, so we're hoping we can open up more reservations for the same times . 🤞

The weather is still causing problems with our parking area, so we need to require reservations so we can make sure to park everyone on solid ground. Rain is in the forecast, so check the weather and our page before heading over. We will not open the orchard if there is heavy rain or lightning in the area, but sometimes we can wait out a passing storm.
Blackberries are starting to ripen (yay for the sun!) and there are still plenty blueberries to pick.
If you can't make it Wednesday, our next open day will be Saturday morning, which should be a big day for picking.
Berries are $8 per pound. We provide picking buckets. We are at 40269 Abby James Rd in Prairieville Louisiana.

The berries were prewashed this weekend!
Thanks to all who braved the muddy conditions and came out to pick loads of ripe blueberries and blackberries this Memorial Day weekend. We've never seen so many blueberries come out of the field before. We had so much fun meeting new people and seeing return customers from last year (or even last week).
Our season is just getting started and we expect to be open at least 4 more weeks for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries.
Our next pick is on May 27, Wednesday evening at 6 pm and we will require reservations. We will post the link to make reservations at 6 pm Tuesday (24 hours in advance) on our page and our website at https://www.waughsomefarm.com/events/wednesday-may-27-at-6-pm-sunset-berry-picking/ so watch for our announcements then.

**Weather update. We will open this morning. It's been drizzling off and on, but it looks like the hard rain is holding off. Bring your mud boots and rain jackets! Those with later appointments should check the weather and our page for updates before heading over. **

**Update #1. All reservations for Memorial Day are booked. We'll open next on Wednesday, May 27 at 6 pm. More information about that later.**

We will open for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries on Memorial Day, Monday May 25 by appointment only.
The recent rainy weather is causing problems with our parking area so we need to spread the crowd out across the morning.
Follow this link to book an appointment for Memorial Day morning: https://waughsomefarm.setmore.com/waughsome
One appointment per vehicle.
We will have blackberries and blueberries available for picking. The blueberries are especially plentiful. The blackberries are just getting started, but this cloudy weather is slowing them down. We will limit everyone to one gallon of blackberries so that later appointments might have a chance to get some. The peak season will start on the next bright sunny day we get and will last through early June.
The orchard is muddy, so bring your rain boots/old sneakers and possibly a rain coat.
Berries are $8 per pound. We provide a picking bucket lined with a bag to bring home. We accept cash and credit cards. As of today, we no longer accept Venmo.
We are located at 40269 Abby James Rd in Prairieville Louisiana.
No smoking. no pets.

**Update - all reservations for Sunday are booked **

* Pick 4 pounds of blueberries and get 1 pound free. Berries are $8 per pound. So in other words, get 5 pounds of blueberries for $32.
* Offer good for Sunday, May 24, 2026.
* Picking sessions on Sunday, May 24 will be by appointment only.
* One reservation per vehicle
* We are offering morning and afternoon picking sessions.
* The offer is only good for blueberries. The blackberries were picked hard on Saturday and we expect there will not be ripe blackberries on Sunday.
* Offer can't be combined with other discounts, like the Golden Bucket.

It's a good news, bad news kind of situation.
The good news is that the field is bursting with ripe blueberries like we've never seen. So we're going to open an extra day this weekend.
The bad news is that recent rainy weather is causing problems with our parking area, so we will require reservations for morning and afternoon picking sessions on Sunday.

The weather still may cause problems on Sunday. Wear your rain boots and possibly a rain jacket. We close the field when there is heavy rain or lightning, so check the weather and our website or FB page before heading over.

It looks like there's some rain and thunderstorms currently moving toward the farm ahead of our Saturday morning picking sessions (May 23).
We intend to open at 8 am as scheduled but we will not let people into the orchard in a heavy rain or if there is lightning in the area. We're hoping there will be periods where it clears out.
The good news is that there is a ton of ripe fruit in the field (especially blueberries!) and it's cooler.
Check back with our page or our website for announcements before you start heading over, because the weather could force some changes to our schedule.

**Update (3:40 pm)**
We will open from 5 pm to 7:30 pm today. We're going to get another round or two of rain, but we will open and let people pick fruit as the weather allows. That means there may be some times where you have to wait in your car or get chased out of the field but hopefully by sunset we'll have some pockets of clear weather so you can get you picking some in the post-rain coolness.
**

Keep your eyes on the skies! Rain and thunderstorms are predicted for our area this Wednesday evening, May 20, but our intention is to open as scheduled from 6 pm to 7:30 pm for pick-your-own blackberries and blueberries.

We will close the orchard if there is heavy rain or lightning in our area. However, we will open if it's a light rain or drizzle or intermittent rain. Bring your rain jackets and rain boots or shoes that you don't mind getting wet or muddy .

We may also adjust the opening time in either direction to try to time the thunderstorms so make sure to check our website or page for last minute updates before you start heading over.

You might want to make the special effort to visit today if you don't mind the weather or the uncertainty, because both the blackberries and blueberry bushes are loaded with ripe fruit right now.
