Due to taking the safety of our flock into consideration, we decided to skip swap today, due to the bitter cold. However! We do have chicks, quail and chicken eggs, and other product ready and available for pick up. Just message Little Peckers Quail Farm for quail chicks (ready to go or for an order form), or Kristy for any other product orders. Sorry for any inconvenience.

We have some tinctures available for purchase. They are alcohol based so they’ll basically last forever. One is for chronic pain from things like fibromyalgia, lupus, and arthritis. The other is for anxiety and calming. PM or text Kristy Carlson for more info.

This week we turned Chase’s old play set into a new goat playground and housing for the interactive farm! That’s where we keep the goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits! Then we (mostly Chase and Deacon) fenced it all in. The week before Kristy and Hannah build an new aviary for their quail! James is working hard plowing in preparation for corn planting!

It’s been an intense couple months on the ranch, calves were born, horses and cattle were sold, poultry was hatched, a new dog was bought, we added a new bull, plants were started, fence was done, landscaping was started, moving happened. It’s been one heck of a spring! As summer rolls in we look forward to slowing down a bit and finishing up moving and continuing to work on building our homestead here on our slice of heaven. James is getting equipment ready to hit the fields, Kristy is finishing up some projects like the garden, the boys are busy with school and work and finishing up the new fence for the goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. The new quail pen is up. Today the pheasant chicks decided it was a good day to learn how to jump the pen and run a muck all over the house. 😂😂😂 This pic was from earlier this spring, when we met our first house cow for the year. Don’t worry, it was only in to dry and get some colostrum, it was born in a nasty storm. It returned to its momma out in the field shortly after the picture. Living on the farm instead of away from has been an adjustment, but so glad we finally made our dream a reality.

So as spring comes and we get settled into our new routine now that the house is done, (still working on moving) I’d like to update everyone!

Calving season is well on its way, the snow is melting so we can start setting up the homestead stuff permanently. A lot of changes will be happening now that we are in our forever home. Y’all obviously know we have cows, horses, pigs, and poultry. Most of you know about the rental cabin. We however now have goats and rabbits again, plus adventuring into quail. We will have a even more massive garden this year and adding to the orchard, berry, and pumpkin patches. At this house I’ll be expanding our koi pond and putting in a wild flower/herb garden again. The dome will be used for Kristy’s photography as a garden dome instead of a rental. We may still do date night rentals with it, we will see how it plays out. The retreat had switched gears a bit to add in a whole farm/homestead experience. We will still be offering the basic off the grid, and hunting packages, but just adding on to the services we offer. Kristy sold the decal/clothing company so that is no longer available.

We will also be doing logging to make more trails and pasture for expanding the ranch. The microgreens will be ready soon and the plan is to set up a farmers/flea market at the land in the village. So many new opportunities now that we are in our forever home and we can finally set it up the way we want. Plus we have a few surprises up our sleeves.
