I've been busy with dye plants and dye pots lately and all these luscious results will be with me at upcoming fiber events!

The wildfire haze is thick enough that I can stare at the bright red evening sun. I'm not taking this very well. I worry for my livestock, and wildlife and people who have to be outside. It's on top of so many other bad things happening. Most of which could have been avoided if science was heeded.

I wasn't able to see this nest until the sheep had grazed around it. Looks like a successful fledging occurred or they haven't started using it yet. Any ideas on which bird species might build a nest like this? We've had a huge flock of goldfinch. Could this be theirs?

Excited to have some yummy, squishy bulky yarn freshly back from the mill. Glacial Fiberworks, LLC did a fabulous job milling my beloved Coopworth wool. It's beyond my wildest dreams to have a woolen mill only 15 miles from the farm 🎉

I prefer to avoid using chemicals to manage the vegetation under my fences, so I string trim instead. I make one pass around the outside in early to mid June and then a couple/three weeks later I make another pass around the inside and some years that's enough. If we get lots of rain I might have to go around again. Vegetation can really cut down on the fences zap strength, allowing for sheep and predators to be naughty.
