Our family farm in the ❤️ of North Idaho is now home to a herd of fallow deer and Our Deer Encounters are now open! Freedom Farm is a family operated farm with big dreams…

Established in 2020 by us, the Moss Family, Jacob, Brandi, and our two children, our main goal has been to get back to our roots, living off of the land and learning how to be as self sufficient as possible. We are nestled in the heart of North Idaho in the serene HooDoo Valley where the beauty of all four seasons is immeasurable. We raise ADGA dairy goats and use the milk for making our own artisan ice cream, cheeses, soaps and always learning how to make more products…

We also raise a variety of other animals and poultry including Katahdin sheep, egg layer chickens, meat chickens, ducks, geese and heritage turkeys. Our garden is always changing and growing, but we grow a large variety of vegetables, fruits and flowers! We are so excited to share our personal experiences in running our farm with you! What Happens to Our Sunflower Field After It Blooms?

The sunflowers may be finished blooming, but their job at Freedom Farm isn’t over!

Once the flowers begin to fade, we turn our herd of Nubian dairy goats loose in the sunflower garden to help with the cleanup. And believe us… they LOVE this time of year.
The remaining black oil sunflower seeds are one of their favorite treats and provide valuable nutrition, while the goats help us naturally clear the garden and reduce some of our feed costs at the same time.
It’s a simple little cycle that makes a lot of sense: grow the sunflowers, enjoy the blooms, then let the goats enjoy the harvest.
