It was a shockingly cold 34° morning, which alerted me to the fact that I have some much-needed preparations to do before it freezes! One of which is dahlia labeling. And that is going to be a bit hard because our season was so short this year that some of my dinnerplates haven’t even bloomed yet! 😬 This year I planted tubers straight into the ground after I thought it was done freezing (and then we had a surprise freeze early June!) and they just haven’t had time to do what they need to do. Next spring, I will go back to what I have done before, which is starting tubers indoors in pots a month or so early to give them a head start. In the meantime, I will savor every day with these flowers, because they may not last much longer. 😕
