“Rosie” Final Sunset
It was no coincidence that I recently shared this video of sweet Rosie and Michael together. Something prompted me that day to take it, it was so precious to me to watch the two of them together.
Here we are, not even three weeks later, and Rosie is no longer with us. She had been struggling some, and recently took a turn for the worse.
Rosie was a 21 year old Quarter Horse who arrived last summer from Texas where she lived many years at a horse farm helping young girls learn how to ride. She was a barn favorite and it is easy to see why. She ended up with her current owner after a board bill couldn’t be paid and she was taken in and given the best life. The barn girls adored her, even teaching her to do her trademark “down dog stretch” at feeding time.
One thing about Rosie is that she was always very attached to other horses when she was with us. She would be quite beside herself and would work herself up if her best buddy wasn’t near. She loved having a best friend near all the time. She loved attention and it was easy to spend extra time loving on her because she so appreciated the loving touch.
Can’t we all find a little of that same need in all of us? Especially if we are running through life at what can seem like a dead run sometimes. Like Rosie, we can all find comfort in knowing someone is there for us. A loving touch can make all the difference in whether your day feels gloomy or radiates sunshine. Let me encourage you to spend some time with the “Rosie’s” in your life that need your touch. I’m sure they will respond as positively as our sweet girl did in the video and it will make your heart smile too. Rest in Peace Rosie, your big heart will not be forgotten.❤️❤️

Bigboy, Romeo, Sporty, and Cenzus enjoying the cooler morning. They will let us know when they are ready to come in and stand in front of their commercial fans for the afternoon. Stay cool everyone! Fall is not that far away😊

Rosie loves Michael! She hardly lets him clean her stall every morning as she pesters him for some lovin’.
She knows he will give it! Thank you, Michael, for help making our retirees days the best days!

It’s a very quiet, foggy morning.

Kinsey and Cora on a hot summer morning. The heat doesn’t seem to affect their appetites any!

“Hey guys! Look at that horse! He still has to work and we get to live the good life!” These horses are always so fun to watch❤️

We love watching the horses from the porch at coffee break. Cenzus and Sporty enjoy a mutual backscratch while Bigboy happily munches.

Never forget the price that was paid for our freedom.
It is worthy of our remembrance and respect on this day as we celebrate.
Thank you to all who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Fefe, Rosie, Mary, and Promise were very frisky this morning! It didn’t last long and the old girls will probably feel a little sore in the morning from their romp. It is always good to see the retirees enjoying life! We humans are jumping for joy with the arrival of the much needed rain as well!
