What you water grows. It’s Liz here with a vulnerable update: We are not selling garlic this year.
Last year as we prepared for the birth of our 2nd child, we planted our garlic crop knowing it may be our last. When we started growing garlic on my parent’s land 5 years ago we did not have kids. I spent many hours in those first garlic fields praying for what we have now. We have two healthy children and a beautiful home to watch them grow up in.
These past few months we have focused on building our homestead and made a conscious decision to stop watering all the garlic. We have peace about this but we have to be intentional to not let our ego get in the way.
In this video you can see some of the dried up garlic and in the background our garden and fruit trees being watered. It may look like failure but it’s actually a sign of great growth. It’s all about perspective. What you water grows.
We may grow garlic again someday or sell other products. But right now we desire to put our energy into growing food and raising animals that will nourish our family and improve our land.
We plan to continue to use this account to record our homesteading journey and we hope you’ll follow along.
