The more you know...
White bread looks harmless.
It isn’t.
Swans and ducks cannot properly digest processed bread.
It fills their stomachs without giving real nutrition. That means they feel “full” — but slowly starve.
What happens next?
• Malnutrition and weak wings (angel wing syndrome in young birds)
• Polluted water from uneaten, rotting bread
• Algae blooms that remove oxygen from the lake
• Sick birds and dying fish
That handful of bread doesn’t just affect one swan.
It affects the entire ecosystem.
If you truly want to help:
🥬 Halved grapes
🌱 Thawed peas
🌾 Oats
🌿 Leafy greens
🦆 Proper duck pellets
Or even better — let them forage naturally.
Kindness is not feeding what feels good.
Kindness is feeding what is right.
