Spring at the Bar B Ranch has officially welcomed two new little ladies to the herd — our first two heifer bison calves of the season!
Today we moved part of the herd down the road into another pasture, and tagging along at the very end was our newest arrival… a calf that had been born only a few hours earlier! Watching that tiny little thing already up, running, and keeping pace with the herd was nothing short of amazing.
It makes you realize how brilliantly these animals were designed for life on the open plains. In the wild, bison calves had to learn quickly: “Welcome to the world, kid… now keep up or become lunch.” Nature apparently skipped the “take it easy for a few days” parenting advice.
There is something awe-inspiring about watching these powerful animals thrive and grow. Every new calf feels like a little victory for the American bison — a symbol of strength, resilience, and the wild spirit of the West.
