Today, we tried monkfish and seaweed sliders at Leviton Dual Language Elementary! Thank you to Commercial Fisheries of Rhode Island for donating the monkfish for students to try! Provided by Farm Fresh Rhode Island, these items were sourced from our local New England coast. Students loved it!

"Lettuce" Celebrate April with Gotham Greens! Last week, we celebrated the Harvest of the Month with Hope High School, Mount Pleasant High School, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary! Students taste tested Lemon Basil Vinaigrette, Vegan Green Goddess, and Vegan Ranch. The Lemon Basil was the winner.

We had so much fun celebrating Earth Day at Webster Avenue Elementary School yesterday! They have been sorting their lunch trays in the cafeteria since last school year, so we decided to bring some partners together to teach them more about compost and sustainability in the lunchroom! Thank you to RI School Recycling Project, Bootstrap Compost, and Rhode Island Food Policy Council for interacting with our students! They got to learn about worms, the cycle and ratio of compost, and how to celebrate Earth Day next week!

We celebrated March Mushroom Madness this past week! Our friends at RI Mushroom Co. and Farm Fresh Rhode Island joined us at Vartan Gregorian Elementary School to celebrate with our students and teach them about the different types of local mushrooms. We then took it to Dr Jorge Alvarez High School for a taste test of Cremini Mushroom Flatbread and Roasted Sh*take Mushrooms. 🍄🍄‍🟫🍄🍄‍🟫

We held our 16th annual Future Chef competition on Thursday! This year, we worked with Providence Career and Technical Academy's culinary and bakery program. High School students partnered with our 16 elementary future chefs. Congrats to our first place winner Silvestre with his Bolivian Majadito as well as Hedley with her Flan in second place! Majadito will be served on our menu soon.

Our most popular taste test of the year! Students at Central High School built their own smoothie "bowls" to try! We will be adding these to our menu for students to have once a month.
