Please consider supporting a vital small vegan business...
From Like No Udder...
As you know, we are being forced to move and virtually start from scratch. Our last day on Ives St. is Sunday.
We’ve been so conflicted about going this route but have decided to seek support via crowdfunding. More & more of our fans and supporters have been encouraging us to do so. Coincidentally, in the past few days, multiple expenses have significantly increased.
Here’s a bit of what we are doing and why we chose this approach…
We are going with GoFundMe as they have the most reasonable fees and are not an all or nothing platform.
We set our campaign at $20K. The expenses are way more than this. We’ll be exhausting our rainy day business savings and taking from our retirement funds.
Incentives to donate? Our research indicates that if we give gifts to our donors, we then have to consider those funds as taxable income. This could be about 30% of what we collect - defeating the purpose of doing a campaign.
We do our best to be fair and give back when we can. So we’ve decided a good way of giving back in this situation is to offer free ice cream to the community based on how much we ultimately raise. Our plan is: for each $1000 we raise, we will offer 100 free cones at (Yes, with ice cream in them!) at a free cone day at the shop. We do need to be mindful of how much we can physically produce and scoop. If we are lucky enough to find us in a position to pass out a lot of ice cream, we’ll make the call on how to do it. It may be another free cone day or we’ll pass out free ice cream at a local park or event. We want to make this fun while finding a way to give back. You’d be helping out the shop, kinda throwing an ice cream party and participating in a little delicious activism.
Additionally, these funds will aid more than just us. You already know Providence Vegan Deli is joining us.
