Anna, Ida & Me Bakery Established in 1987, Anna, Ida & Me Bakery was founded with one product-Mondel Bread, an old-world,hand-crafted, Eastern European cookie. Voila! Anna, Ida & Me.

A bit of history should do here. I grew up making Mondel Bread at my mom's side (mostly licking the bowl while she looked away). Making Mondel Bread is a rite of passage for some families; Mandel Brot was the official term passed down from our grandmothers and theirs from various Eastern European towns. So what exactly is Mondel/Mandel Bread/Brot? It's a delicious cookie. Also a pain in the arse

to make, but I digress. The heavy dough is rolled into logs and baked. Then the logs are sliced and baked again. Families had their own versions of texture and flavors. I felt we had a doozy.It was cinnamony and crispy and not at all hard. Everyone loved it and I continued to make it over the years. Flash forward to the 80's, when I'd decided 15 years in the advertising business was enough. I decided to bring my own product to market. I refined the recipe with gourmet and healthier ingredients and created new flavors. I think it topped out at about at 14 flavors, but I culled it back to a more manageable number. I named the product after the grandmothers I never knew and myself-hoping for some sort of connection.
