Neumann Farms

Neumann Farms The Ameraucana is one of the most popular breeds in America. Our birds bred here at Neumann Farms are excellent foragers and have curious, active personalities.

We specialize in attractive, productive and cold hardy Ameraucanas in the standard colors of Silver, Splash, Blue and the project variety developed by Neumann Farms, Light Ameraucanas. With their lovely blue eggs, friendly personalities, and medium size that is easy on the feed bill, they are a great breed for everybody. I am an active member of the APA, have served on the board of directors for t

he Ameraucana Alliance, and am currently a member. I show my Ameraucanas and have won class at various shows with them, including Champion Ameraucana Overall at the Western Ameraucana National in Utah in 2019. In addition to standard Silver and Blue Ameraucanas, we offer a Neumann Farms exclusive developed by me, Light Ameraucanas.

For 12 years, I bred standard silver Ameraucanas. I put a lot of time and love into this variety. I still think it is one of the most beautiful and elegant true breeding chicken patterns in existence. The truth is, I have tried hard to let these guys go for few years now knowing I do not have the time and resources to work on developing Lights to their true potential while also doing these silvers justice. I just never could let them go because they are too beautiful. Even today, as I caged them up, I thought really hard about keeping a trio of the best for myself. But it is time to focus on fashioning my Lights into the last chickens I will ever own. I do not have the time or resources to make everything great. And so, I downsize yet again. Today, I sold my entire flock of silvers to Kellie Hastings from Oklahoma. She bought a flock of silvers from me last year, she knows the birds, has worked with them for a year and shows the dedication and passion required to work with such a challenging variety. I have the utmost confidence that she will do great things with these birds and I feel relieved to know they are in the hands of somebody who loves this variety as much I do. In the years I bred silver Ameraucanas, I helped breeders across the US get started with silvers, and it gives me great pleasure that some of them are still working with those lines, and the years I spent culling after a brutal outcross hopefully has left some useful genetics for others breeders to continue on with this variety. To all of you who have shared my silver journey over the years, thank you. Please post in the comments to make this a little less hard for me, and show me your birds! A special shout out to Chris Reasoner King for the lone cockerel I hatched from her shipping eggs in 2017, the very last bird added to my flock of silvers, which has been closed since then. I never would have achieved good combs without that bird.
