Taking care of our drinking water is more than just our town's responsibility. We as citizens need to be sure that we're not using chemicals on our grass, or putting noxious things down the drain. Let's do our best to use natural products for our hair, our bodies and our households. Even if you have a septic system that water has a runoff, and that runoff goes right into the streams, which goes right into our Richland Creek.

I use vinegar for cleaning, killing weeds, stains on my clothes, as my fabric softener, and to keep my drains clear of oils. If you grow crops, please use a winter cover crop such as clover to enrich the soil. No need to kill it with herbicides. Just plow it in befor planting your crop next year. Your plow will flip it under 12 inches making it into compost.

Think before you flush! Flushing unused or expired medicines can be harmful to your drinking water. Properly disposing of unused or expired medication helps protect you and the environment. Keep medications out of Tennessee’s waterways by disposing in one of our permanent pharmaceutical take back bins.
