Harvest is the time when we find out how well the crop did. This year our crops are great! We have plenty of grain to provide feed to the community. All of the grain we use grow is used for feed.

Our crop this year is no spray. We do not use seed treatments, fungicides or insecticides on our crop. We never use dissicants (roundup or paraquat) on our crops

Some overhead shots of our triticale crop in June.
This year our triticale and pea crops are no spray. It is truly wonderful what good moisture at the right time can do for a grain crop!

2026 crop year

We are getting ready for spring work, and will be planting spring triticale, an intercropped pea/oat blend (they are very happy together and reduce w**d pressure). We will also be taking some acreage into a three year perennial clover/kernza stand to see if this is how we transition to organic production.

This spring we will also be planting a buffer strip composed of native grasses and forbes along our border with highway 27. This buffer will offer habitat and food to beneficial insects and pollinators as well as prevent w**ds spreading from hay trucks traveling down highway 27 into our fields.

We currently have a beautiful winter triticale stand growing on two hundred acres of the farm. With the help of the Palouse Conservation District, we were selected to participate in a winter pulse program funded by a National Conservation District grant, and have 90 acres in winter peas as a part of that program. Finally, we have a winter a cover crop of austrian winter peas and winter triticale on forty acres of ground that needs some love and natural nitrogen fixation. This will be terminated with a roller crimper later in the season. After termination the cover crop will add biomass to the soil and create a matt to keep w**ds under control until the field is sown to the next crop.

All the crops we harvest are binned on-farm and are used to make the feed that we sell. All of the crops we grow are non-GMO. We do no use seed treatment, fungicides or insecticides on our crops.
