Keep strong my friends of Paradise Creek Brewery - Downtown Restaurant! Tough times but bright future.
Hey there everyone! I'm sitting here after closing wanting to address a question we have been receiving a lot lately. There has been a rumor spreading that we are closing our doors, which came from a post trying to discuss the struggles we face, a post made with the best intentions in mind. We are not planning on closing down. I do want to be honest though it has been seriously considered. This industry is hard, especially when so much of it is dependent on the university. It is especially tough from mid-December - mid mid-March. Utilities are high, licensing bills are due, quarterly taxes are due among many others. This is paired with the fact that our sales were almost cut in half during these months. I have invested so much time, money, and stress making sure I can balance these things, and still support my staff. I know we are not the only ones dealing with these struggles.
As I get to know more people in the industry, and similar industries we are all feeling the pressure. Some of it requires change inside the system, and I am fully aware of my responsibility there. I just ask that we all band together and help support the small businesses especially this time of year. It breaks my heart seeing the closures that are happening right now, especially when it feels like we are right behind them sometimes. We have such a great community and I hate to see things crumble in this little town I grew up in.
So please go to a locally owned restaurant, coffee shop, bar, retail store, hobby shop, etc this month if you are able. I know for certain that every sale means the world to the people who it supports. Finally, thank you to everyone who has reached out with support, concern, or helpful advice since this discussion about us started. You are all truly wonderful and I truly feel honored and humbled that so many people wish to see us succeed. Thank you, and cheers. Please if you want to help more businesses in general reach out to the Downtown Pullman Association, and the Pullman Chamber and Visitor Center. They both work really hard for the businesses they represent.
