Long before Key Lime Pie became Florida’s official state pie in 2006, many Floridians celebrated our state’s citrus heritage with Sour Orange Pie 🧡

Introduced by Spanish settlers in the 1500s, sour oranges flourished throughout Florida and became a staple ingredient in early Florida desserts. Their bright, tangy flavor made them a natural choice for pies and helped establish a citrus pie tradition 🤩 Some local recipes date back to the 19th century!

We know I have a deep love for historic Florida, so it was an easy decision to revive a recipe that’s faded away over the years.

Sour Orange Pie is available by the slice at Fat Boys Pizza and subs this weekend and will also earn a permanent place on my Pie List 🫶🏼
