🔹 Local Beef and Artificial Insemination Services We are Mark and Jenna, a husband and wife team who have found a passion for helping horses and owners reach their full potential. Mark’s interest with horses began as a child, but it wasn’t until his time at Oklahoma State University that he dove head first into training. Now, he thrives on using natural horseman techniques to problem-solve, teach and grow our equine partners. Jenna has been involved in the industry since she was young and is the one who ‘never outgrew the horse-girl phase’. She has competed in a variety of events including AQHA Hunter Under Saddle. She was a member of the Redlands Community College Equestrian Team, OSU Horse Judging Team and was Miss Rodeo Iowa 2018, placing in the Top 5 at Miss Rodeo America. Now, she enjoys barrel racing and is working towards a certification in Equine Massage Therapy and Rehabilitation. We invite you to follow along as we share the journey of working with horses on our place. If you are looking for help with your equine partner, please send us a message! We’d love to chat with you.

Every day, these cattle come to the feed trough to be fed. They know where to go when they’re hungry.

It got me thinking about how we need to do the same thing in our walk with God. We need to show up at church, get into His Word, and spend time with Him so we can be filled spiritually.

We wouldn’t expect our cattle to go without feed and still thrive. So why do we expect ourselves to go day after day without feeding our faith?

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” — Matthew 5:6

Why do I feed steers instead of bulls or heifers?

Steers are generally easier to manage and make a good choice for finishing beef to the upper choice or prime levels. They tend to put on weight more efficiently and produce the kind of beef we’re looking for.

Bulls are primarily kept for breeding, and they are more rambunctious. Heifers may be kept as replacements or used for beef depending on the operation.

For what we’re doing here. Steers make the most sense.

Why do we use a USDA-inspected processor?

Because we’re selling beef directly to you, not just raising beef for ourselves.

A USDA-inspected processor allows the beef to be inspected, processed, packaged and labeled for sale to customers.

It also means your beef is being processed under USDA inspection and handled according to federal food-safety requirements.

We want you to know exactly where your beef comes from, the cattle we raise, the processor that handles it (shoutout to Wh***ey Creek Processing), and ultimately what’s going into your freezer.

Happy Monday!

Being a first generation rancher while having a full time town job has unique challenges. We just have to be faithful with what God has put in front of us and trust Him to provide what we need along the way.

He doesn’t always call the equipped. He equips the people He calls.

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:5

Ever wonder what happens to a piece of hay after a cow eats it?

It goes through four stomach compartments — the rumen, reticulum, omasum and abomasum — where it gets broken down and turned into nutrients the cow can use.

Pretty crazy that a cow can take something like grass or hay and turn it into beef.

So what are we actually feeding these cattle?

Our finishing ration has cracked corn, cottonseed hulls, vitamins and minerals, and yeast. Each one has a purpose.

Cracked corn is where we get a lot of our energy. This is what helps those cattle keep gaining and putting on the finish we’re looking for.

Cottonseed hulls give us the fiber we need in the ration. Even though we’re feeding a high-energy diet, we still need to keep that rumen working right.

Vitamins and minerals are there to make sure we’re not just feeding calories. We want to make sure the cattle are getting the nutrients they need while they’re growing and finishing.

Yeast is something we added to the ration to help support the rumen while these cattle are on a high-energy feed.

I’ve learned pretty quick that feeding cattle isn’t just about filling up a bunk and hoping they gain weight. There’s a lot more to it than that.

We work with Livestock Nutrition Center to get the ration put together, and then I keep up with what we’re feeding and how the cattle are performing.

Be sure to ask any questions you have in the comments and I’ll be sure to tell you more about it!

Got the new lifetime flooring installed in the trailer. When you’re hauling cattle, you can’t rely on one board to carry the load. It takes multiple boards working together to support the weight.

Same thing goes for life. We weren’t meant to carry everything alone. It takes people working together and supporting one another.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.”
— Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

Why buy beef directly from a ranch?

Because you know where it came from.

You know the cattle were raised right here in Oklahoma, you know who raised them, and you know exactly where your beef is coming from.

Buying direct also lets you stock your freezer with a variety of beef instead of just buying individual cuts at the grocery store.

We’re a small operation, therfore, you’re supporting a local family and helping us continue to feed our communities.
