Stonehenge Flower Farm is officially ready for Hillsboro’s Gardens in the Gap!
Months of work has all come down to this big moment: Our. First. Market. Ever. The Stonehedge team is full of enthusiasm. Not only that, but the flowers are in on it too: we’re finally seeing little blooms peek up all over the farm!
I instantly grabbed these first blooms, and put together a simple arrangement for myself to enjoy. It’s the perfect sight to come home to after a long day working on the farm, and a little celebration for getting this far. It’s also a little sneak peek for you to see what we’ll have this weekend.
But out of all the flowers, my favorite has to be the peonies. They’re dramatic and humongous, and I just can't get enough. Expect to see these jaw-droppers in our bouquets Saturday!

Typically corsages are made very delicately, with ribbons and soft ruffled flowers. This classic look is definitely charming, but the bright notes of spring inspired me differently. Nothing could match the season more than a wildflower corsage made from Stonehedge flowers. I love how playful and unique this corsage is, and I believe it would pair beautifully with any colorful dress.
The "spring house" is showing off its spring pride! 🌸
This very historic building dates back to the mid 1700's. In its past, it served as an early "refrigerator" for dairy products, and holds the name "spring house" because of its connection to a natural spring nearby. The cold spring mountain water was piped into water troughs inside the stone building. Milk from the dairy farm would then be set into the water to be kept cold.
Pretty innovative for the early colonials!

A big thank you to the Academies of Loudoun for supplying us with our hydrangeas! We can't wait to see their huge sky blue blooms this summer. Or pink blooms! Who knows? The PH of the soil determines the color of the hydrangeas. How cool is that?
The Academies of Loudoun is having their spring plant sale this week from Tuesday-Thursday, 10am-5pm. I highly suggest you check it out, they have hydrangeas, flowers, and so much more! What a better way to kick off spring than with some beautiful plants.

Our seedlings have been cruising! We've been planting since January and still can't see the "light at the end" of our planting list. We're excited to see these plants finally bloom and show off their colors.

Somehow making my first facebook post for Stonehedge Flower Farm has been more daunting than sowing our first seeds of the season, which really shows how much more comfortable I am with farming than social media.
But now as we prepare for the upcoming growing season, I realized how excited I was about the farm, and how I just can’t wait to connect with the community that supports us. And when I first created this account I was shocked to see followers streaming into our account before we even posted a single thing. Maybe you are just as excited as me. . .So I welcome you to join the Stonehedge team on our flower journey.
