I love this audience when I am loading round bales for them and they are patiently waiting in the parlor. Days like today make me thankful for winter housing and dry bedding!
We're a full diet farm, growing fruit trees, veggies, & grains biologically and raising livestock in a grass based system.
Our goal is to provide our community healthy, mineralized foods year round and take care of our soil, crops, animals, and customers.

Roots and greens galore!! Must be fall…
This winter we will have a jump start on the weeds!
We’ve been going towards growing transplants to maximize our winter tunnel space. We’ll plant later generations that will be grown in grow racks in our basement, and this winter we’ll be able to grow up to 32 trays at a time to keep the new transplants covered. And new this season is landscape fabric in the paths of our transplant houses. We’re putting in the work now to get a lot of greens this winter!!
Did this guy really dig all those sweet potatoes??
I love working with my kids on the farm. Sometimes it’s really challenging or sometimes it just doesn’t work at all. But then there are some of those sweet moments like this, and I’m really grateful for it.

MILKER MONDAY: Meet Althea, a nurturing, reliable, and chill cow if there ever was one. Althea is a resilient mama who has overcome a lot including having a c-section last year. We are so ‘grateful’ to have you in our herd!
Sure is starting to feel like summer around here! Sadly, animals and weeds don’t recognize holidays, so happy Memorial Day to all the farmers out there working today!
Join us Memorial Day, this Monday 5/30 at 3pm for a farm tour! In our spare time we run craftchesapeake] where we organize a series of informal farm tours throughout the growing season geared towards new and aspiring farmers. Follow craftchesapeake] to stay posted on the tours.
Rob and Mo Moutoux run a unique year-round, whole-diet CSA program. They grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs, milk a 100% grass-fed Jersey dairy herd, and raise 100% grass-fed beef and a pastured laying hen flock. Everything is channelled into the CSA program, where they feed 100 people the bulk of their diets year round. They incorporate animals, cover cropping, forages, and vegetable cropping to create biologically thriving, minerally-rich soils, and ultimately, nutrient dense foods. We will check out all aspects of the operation and the CSA on this interesting tour!

You know what’s the worst? SPRING heavy wet snow! Ugh. And, yes, that is trying to crawl under heavy ass reemay to lift up hoops. We just have to wait it out and see what doesn’t get crushed.
It’s one our favorite days! Cows on the first lush spring pasture!

Playing with our new flame weeder from to prepare the ground for carrots. Basic idea is to burn the tiny baby weeds to get ahead of them for tiny crops, like carrots.
Feedback so far is that, like most farm tools, it is built for broad shouldered tall people (also not great for our super rocky beds…) But, we strong ass ladies and we got it done!
