Kick'n A Ranch

State Fair is a wrap. It was an exhausting trip. Some shows are good and some not so much. This show was a "Not so Much". So we will set our sites to Ft. Worth and hope for the best.

Our classes got shuffled around as well from what I previously listed, so here is the update.

Class 1-- Prada ( KA DEVIL WEARS PRADA) placed 9th
CLASS 3- Versace (KA RED CARPET VERSACE) shifted out of a class of 20+. Judge only kept the top 10 to judge.
CLASS 4- Fendi (KA FASCINATING IN FENDI) same result as Versace
CLASS 8- Tootsie- (MISS RAFTER C TOOTSIE) same result as Versace
CLASS 15-Apple (KA PRETTY LITTLE POISON)
same result as Versace

There were lots of cattle, large classes, and lots of competition. Its only 1 judges opinion on 1 given day and our type and kind of cattle was not what this particular judge was looking for. We learn and we continue on to Ft. Worth.

It does make it more challenging as a smaller ranch to compete with the bigger ranches on our budget and help. Thank you to my hubby and kids who go all in to help at shows and support me. Huge shout out to my future DIL, Kenzie, who stuck with me all weekend. Thank you to those great friends that visit on show day and jump in to help us out, we greatly appreciate it. The cattle were just as exhausted as we were since it was the very first show for 4 of them

Ft. Worth will be here before we know it so I'm off to work cattle.

Yesterday was a long day getting into the State Fair of Texas (SFT). Staged at 1100, finally got to the barns at 8pm. Finished setting up and bedding down the cows by 1100pm. Grab some fast food, some sleep and back to the barn by 7am. BUT GOOD LORD, these cows sure have the hard life...pampered divas...LOL! Love all their distinct personalities. For 4 of them this is their 1st show and so far so good, no epic meltdowns....fingers crossed.

We prayed and prayed for rain! The Ole rain gauge says 4.5". Thank the lord our prayers were answered!

Absolutely, guilty of all of it!

We’re guilty of..
Naming cattle that absolutely did not need names.
Taking approximately 54 pictures of the same horse.
Stopping work to watch the sunset.
Having a favorite pair of boots.
Not being afraid to get dirty.
Explaining ranch things to someone who definitely did not ask.
Guilty of wearing ranch clothes somewhere that definitely did not require ranch clothes.
Guilty of petting the cows every single time they walk by.

Going all in prepping for our next show despite this horrible heat. Praying for rain! Working these heifers 5-6hrs a day halter breaking, feeding, washing, shaving, training. The horses tend to supervise. Barn attire is whatever keeps you cool...LOL.
