It was a busy week (as usual this time of year).

We put our second batch of meat birds out on pasture and got our concrete floor poured and looking good 👍

Lots of systems still getting set up as we get going with our first season at our new home. We love getting to know this place! It really is a special spot that we are grateful we get to steward ❤️

Find us this weekend , , and . And on Wednesday you can also find us at in .

Just an fyi, we are still very low on our chicken inventory at the moment. Good news - our first batch of meat birds heads to the processor this week. That means at the markets next weekend. Something to look forward to 👀 😁

It’s Memorial Day weekend which means opening day for lots of farmers markets. We are really excited to see our friends again on Saturday, and to get to start making new friends at our very first on Sunday! We are trying something new with doing two markets on Sundays with . Wish us luck! 🍀

We will be bringing our eggs and the VERY little amount of chicken we still have from last season. Our first batch is out on pasture so we won’t be fully back in stock for another two weeks if you are coming to us looking for chicken. We will also have plenty of our bulk microgreens, too! 🌱

It’s been a busy spring but oh so wonderful being at our new place. It’s quite the trip to now have everything in our backyard and we can’t wait to share it with you all! Come say hi 👋 and don’t let the rain scare you away 😊

our favorite time of year- the summer farmers market season! We’re trying out some new markets this year and are excited to expand our community a bit further north into central Vermont. This Sunday, our first market begins in Putney, and we are so excited to see our customers and fellow vendors again. The summer farmers markets in Vermont are such a treat and a highlight of living here. The beautiful locations, the amazing local goods, and the communities that form around the markets make us feel so grateful to be included.

Come out to Opening Day at Putney this Sunday and take a stroll around the farmers market and the community gardens for Mother’s Day. We’ll be there with lots of real organic, pasture raised eggs, chicken bone broth and microgreens. We still have the last of last seasons whole roasters, stewing hens, wings, drumsticks, tenders, bone-in breast roast, and backs, but are running very low until our first processing date in early June. As always, Putney is offering free shiatsu massages for Moms as a gift from the market, so come out early to sign up!

See you all there!

Batch #1 has officially made it out to pasture! This is our very first batch of broilers for our new property. It feels so great to get them outside for the season, and get to experience this new land together. We’ve decided to remove the sides of our mobile chicken houses this year to give our chickens even more room as they grow. We move these to fresh grass every day and we’re excited to see the effect our chickens will have on our pastures health and diversity.

These real organic chickens grow fast and will be ready for purchase the first week of June! You can get some of the best chicken around this summer at and Market on the Green in Woodstock.

Our first season at our new place is off to a good start. Lots of shuffling going on right now as we get everything laid out and set up for the season on our various fields. We’ve had our old laying flock out for the past week and it’s been nice getting into the rhythm of things with them before things get really cranking. The first batch of broilers head out to the pasture tomorrow morning, then it’s a quick clean out and turn around in the brooder with the second batch arriving in the evening. In less than two weeks we welcome our new laying flock and crank it up even more!

But before they arrive, we are excited the starts back up next Sunday on Mother’s Day. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the summer market! Come say hi 👋

This is our first weekend without a farmers market since October, and we must say we miss seeing all you shiny happy people! 😁 Thank you to everyone who supported us during the season this year. It sure was a doozy for us that consisted of moving our entire farm almost an hour north! New place means new systems to set up all over again, and moving in November this past year did not give us any time to do that effectively considering how freaking cold December was this year. Then it started snowing and didn’t stop at our new home in the Vermont Alps. It took us a while to settle into some kind of rhythm but by the end of the market season we felt much more dialed. We can’t thank you all enough for continuing to show up and support us throughout it all 🫶

Now it’s time to shift into season prep mode! We’ve got a lot keeping us busy this month as we get ready to move our laying flock out of the hoophouse, welcome our first batch of almost 600 broilers, and support our pregnant ewes during lambing season this month. Plus lots of repairs to be made and fencing to set up and water lines to roll out.

In addition to all of that we are also prepping for a big project we will be undertaking, transforming our unfinished two bay attached garage into a multi-use wash/pack facility to help us clean and pack our eggs, chicken, and microgreens. Concrete floors with drains, insulated washable walls, cold storage… all essential elements that will help us improve our efficiency and food safety measures. We are thrilled to share that our project was selected for the Business Enhancement Grant which is making this project possible this year for us! We are extremely grateful for their support of our farm ❤️ Our goal is to have a space where we can wash our eggs this winter and not have to use our kitchen sink 😝

Other exciting news is that we will be new full season venders at and the Market On The Green this coming season! You will also be able to catch us at our usuals, and .

Lots of exciting new things going on this year so stay tuned friends!

Grateful for days like these, and for neighbors with backhoe attachments.

About a year ago there was a big ice storm that took down a bunch of trees on the property. Now that the snow is gone and our season is just ahead of us it’s time to start cleaning up all the “sticks” starting with a few that were blocking access into pastures. A birch had fallen right on a rock wall that kept it propped up off the ground, allowing it to cure and not rot. It feels good to have now harvested our first amount of wood from the land and created more wildlife habitat with the piles of sticks not worth saving. Much more to come!

It’s the last on Saturday. We’d love to see you there 👋

For many female farmers, the most valuable guidance hasn't come from a manual, but from other women who have navigated the same situations firsthand. Farmers learning from other farmers 🌿
