I would much rather be sharing good food and welcoming our guests than addressing disagreements between businesses. However, a claim about me recruiting another restaurant’s employees deserves a clear and honest response.

Two seasons ago, while we were preparing to take over Times Three Restaurant, I contacted two people about possible employment. One was Josh, my nephew’s boyfriend, whom I consider family. The other was Rosa, a cook I had worked alongside for years before opening my own restaurant. Both were people with whom I already had established connections.

I told Josh that if things did not work out where he was, I would be willing to hire him. I also offered Rosa an opportunity. I stand by those conversations. Those are the only two employees I contacted; describing that as an ongoing effort to recruit another restaurant’s staff does not reflect my actions.

I also have concerns about customers being followed from another restaurant to SKOOTERS and then receiving personal messages questioning where they were eating or taking their purchased food. Following customers and contacting them in this manner crosses a boundary. It is inappropriate and places customers in an uncomfortable position they should never have to face. I respectfully ask that this behavior stop.

People make their own decisions about where they work and where they eat. Those choices deserve respect. Customers should be free to support any local business without being drawn into disagreements between restaurant owners.

At SKOOTERS Café, we are proud of the food we create, the care we put into our restaurant, and the hospitality our team offers. Our menu reflects our own ideas, experience, and creativity. We invite you to visit and judge that experience for yourself.

Quartzsite has room for different restaurants, different menus, and different tastes. We can each take pride in our business while treating one another with courtesy. Competition does not need to become personal.

If you have a question about my actions, please come directly to me. I am willing to answer honestly and respectfully. I am also asking that inaccurate claims and personal remarks stop.

Thank you to our employees, customers, and community for your continued support. Our energy belongs in taking care of you—and that is where we intend to keep it.
