We went in and peeked during one of the warmer spring days… the girls are hard at work. It is nice to see full frames of capped honey and worker brood, while we wait patiently to harvest, split hives and do all the things🐝.

We did it! Black walnut/maple syrup 1.0! Tastes fantastic! 10/10… highly recommend! Just not if you are expecting to save money🫣… then again, if the Lord wills it, there is always next year🤗… and next year it will not be a last minute decision, so we can start a little earlier in the season. ⏰🍁🪾

Last second decisions led to this… we are now in the beginning stages of boiling sap - about two gallons. If my calculations are correct this will become the most expensive half cup of black walnut/maple syrup ever made.😂

What a last two hours! We stopped by the barn to check on the sheep and heard a pitiful baaa. In our search we found the source… four feet underground, stuck in a previously dug groundhog hole and by the smell of it - now inhabited by a 🦨. I am so proud of my three daughters! They got right to work digging and problem solving and contorting their bodies to best reach in and extract the lamb and they didn’t stop till they had her! It is not easy to recover someone from a mini cave! We are praising the Lord for one His perfect timing and the successful recovery of our little lamb! Everyone is home safely, albeit we smell awful😳🫣🤢 ! All pictures taken post successful recovery (as we were busy during the extraction phase) to show what we were working with and as always the pictures don’t do it justice.
