The sheep are WAILING this evening. We took the opportunity to separate the sheep and wean as part of the shearing process. The ram lambs in the front pasture are crying for their mommas. The mommas in the side pasture are crying for their lambs. And Oscar is in the front pasture crying because he's been separated from his ladies and is stuck with the whiney boys!

Several of the chickens refuse to use the nesting box. This has meant I have to crouch and duck-walk in the chicken tractor to get a half a dozen or so scattered eggs out of the tractor. Yesterday I tried my newest “farm tool” - a grabby stick! Not only can I use it through the open door of the chicken tractor, but yesterday evening I discovered it also slips easily under the edge of the tractor and I can pull the eggs to me and get them out through gaps along the ground! I unknowingly created a farm version of the claw game!!! It works ridiculously well, and is HIGHLY entertaining. The chickens did not approve, and did attempt to keep me from getting eggs. This might be my new favorite farm chore…

We have a gender and name for Ewe-Ann’s lamb: his name is Creme Brûlée!

Ewe-Ann McGregor had her lamb this morning! She was too far away for us to see if it’s a ewe or a ram.

Here’s a closer look at Spring Roll! He’s by far our fuzziest baby with sooooo many curls! And while he looks like he’s solid black, he does in fact have 12 whole white hairs on the top of his head!
