The baby horses didn’t get to their first show this weekend because we opted out of the hour long drive in 40 mph wind gusts. But they did go to two different rings to practice their off the farm behaviors and both of them were superstars both times.

This looks like the most boring between the ears ever. But it’s not to me. It’s Max back under saddle and hopefully ready to be as sound as he’ll ever be. He’s lunged a few times and been his goofball/ ADHD self a few times but I put his tack on today and he was all business. He gets a week of walking before we trot under saddle but if it works I’ll be thrilled. He first went lame 15 months ago, had 2 months off, restarted very slowly, went lame again in April, was diagnosed with fractured hip, had 4 months restrictions and rehab, was under saddle 3 times in July, then reinjured/did too much in the field, and has been off since then.

TuckerBerry Farm had a little Saturday evening fun with a pretty impromptu Halloween, dress up the horses party and scavenger hunt. We had Maxington Bear, Kissa the witch, Fuzzy the Baseball, Dreamer and Autumn both as angels, Mighty the sheriff, Mic as Mickey Mouse, Skelly and Juliana scared so badly by Devin the vet bill that they died and became skeletons, Fuego in flames and Liza was briefly a fall ballerina but we didn’t get a picture.

It’s been a crazy couple of days around here. We had a great clinic with Andrea Waldo and Juliana’s new baby arrived right in the middle of it. Welcome Skelly.
