Last Thursday was local food and farm day at the West Virginia Capitol. Thank you to the delegates, senators, and the Agriculture Commissioner for listening to our concerns regarding cuts to the farm to school programs and food banks. We are fighting the fight! Proud of our small but mighty group of farmers!

Thank you Reuters for spending time with us! From town halls, to butter production, even school deliveries. It was our pleasure to show you behind the curtain into West Virginia agriculture.
We are thankful that organizations like Reuters have taken interest into spreading the word on the negative impacts of funding cuts sent down from Washington.

Farmers in a West Virginia town are angry over Trump's funding cuts. The Republican president won 70% of votes in the state in his bid to regain the White House. They believed Trump's repeated campaign vows that he supported American farmers. Hunger came up, time and again https://reut.rs/41Z3844

West Virginia wasn’t last in something and the federal government pulls the assistance to make this feasible. If only our leaders in Washington valued our progress and the health of our youth.

Thank you to the Washington Post for getting our story out there! This is a gut punch to your local producers, children, and those who are facing hunger! The silence on this issue from our state and federal leadership is deafening. We need true leadership in these times, who is willing to step to the plate and fight for us?

The eliminated programs helped schools and food banks buy fresh food from local farmers and ranchers.

Dismal times are here folks. This is a lane we try to avoid on all fronts but we can no longer stand back and say nothing. The most recent USDA cut has detrimental consequences not only for Greenbrier Dairy but local producers and the health of our youth and those less fortunate. When we first started Greenbrier Dairy it was built on the foundation that we would serve a higher quality, healthier, local dairy product targeting markets that don't have access to that in their normal circumstances. Going on 4 years now we have serviced school systems and food banks to build a business with that solid foundation. Our foundation is now demolished. We need our state and federal leadership to speak up for those who don't have a voice. Fight for those 266,370 West Virginia's facing hunger, 73,650 of those being children who rely on school meals. Fight for our under appreciated, overlooked, and dismissed farmers & producers in West Virginia. Local food purchases going to children via the school system or those facing hunger is not a waste of government funds.

To our partners in the school and food bank space. Thank you doesn't cover what your dedication to supporting local products means to us here at Greenbrier Dairy. We have built solid partnerships and we will continue this work for as long as possible!

We have a dream and we have to protect it.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
