We have four hens sitting on a bunch of eggs and they are all at different phases of development. This sweet mama (who also hatched out five chicks 6 months ago) hatched another! I went to collect eggs and heard little chirps! She is already so protective of her. I moved her out of the nesting box so her and baby could get food and water while sitting on the rest of her clutch. She is soooo thin which means she has been dedicated the last 15-21 days to her eggs sacrificing her own body. Talk about a real mama!

We have Christmas Chicks! Mama has been so dedicated to these babies for the last 21 days awaiting their arrival.
The weather has been hitting freezing temps the last couple nights but she is doing an amazing job keeping them warm and safe! 4 more to hatch, probably in the next week they will because we put those under her a week after these 5 🐣.

12 🐓 butt nuggets went into the incubator today after I attempted to get some chicks from our local feed stores; sold out, DOA from shipping and just such a high demand in general (I was #20 in line and by #8 they sold out) I decided to just hatch some from our barnyard mix. Stay tuned for a candling session in about 10 days to see which ones are developing!
