Itās been one year since we first started developing NOORA Blends. At the time, we didnāt even have a name.
We started with an idea: a fruit and vegetable-forward product built on VITERO, our protein-polyphenol technology. Fiber came in soon after, because of the data on how many Americans are missing all three from their diets.
Starting in my kitchen, I went through 12 rounds of formulations for Calm alone. Iāve worked in product development on over a thousand products, and every one has its own personality. I started with tart cherry juice because I find it show-stopping. I added and subtracted ingredients until the right combinations revealed themselves.
My friends at SinnovaTek helped me trial these in the lab, the part meant to fail fast and learn, so we could de-risk what came after. We shared samples with friends and family for feedback.
I searched everywhere for naming inspiration and we debated word choice down to the smallest detail, then went round after round adjusting the logo.
Then it was time to take a leap. We worked with five packaging suppliers, weighing goals, timelines, pricing, sustainability, quality, and short and long term needs. Part delicate dance, part puzzle.
Once the business pieces were in place, I taught myself as much Illustrator as I could. This was my first full package design: labels, ingredient statements, look and feel, colors, copy, logos. I always leave in a typo no matter how many passes I make, so I called in copy editor, artist, regulatory, and production whiz friends to catch what I couldnāt see. I lost count of the versions. Dozens, easily.
Then it was time to print. SinnovaTek helped source ingredients and food safety plans while our suppliers produced the pouches. On production day, friends and colleagues worked hard to produce all four flavors in one day.
Two weeks later, we went live on our website for the first time and had orders within minutes. Iām grateful to the friends who didnāt think twice about showing up for us.
Weāre now four months further in, learning something new every day. Iām a food industry veteran, but CPG is brand new territory. Thank you all for being here, and for yo
