Over the last few weeks, we have been posting that we had a big announcement to make about an anniversary party and different packaging options throughout the year. While we wanted to make a positive post, we are distraught to announce that the last day of operation for our taproom is next Saturday, January 25th, 2020, where we are throwing a party. Everyone from Brice's will be there so you can come share a beer or two and say farewell. In the meantime, we will be open our normal hours throughout the week, including Live Music with Gary Pullen on Saturday, January 18th and Trivia next Wednesday. Come out and support us in our last week of business. We hope to see you here.
From day one, we wanted to create a unique experience at Brice's Brewing Company. We always started our focus with great beer and great people serving it. We had some issues with beer quality and staffing early on and tried to overcome those misjudgments, and then our owner, Kris, came down with cancer.
This is enough to derail most plans in life, but with the help of amazing doctors, our champion and President Dana Bengtson who somehow kept us all together through a very tough time, and this amazing brewing community, Brice's prevailed. Of course, the real reason that we stayed open as long as we did was our very own Taylor Harrington. She came on as an intern in March of 2017 and worked for months for free, learning the trade. She was taught how to clean (and then how to brew); she was shown the ropes on working the bar, while it was clear she was a natural, and then she transitioned into sales. Nine months after she started she was asked to do everything. We mean everything. Brice's was a one-woman-show. For over a month and a half, she worked every shift from Wednesday - Sunday behind the bar. She brewed every beer that was to be served at the bar, and also somehow kept a smile on her face. We are eternally indebted to this woman, who is now a second level Cicerone and probably the nicest person you will ever meet.
We had two other employees who really became part of Brice's: Lila Miller and Dawn Poole. These two ladies immediately made an impression on everyone at the taproom. They each worked at Brice's for about a year and have been great assets to the company, but have also become people that we can call family. Thank you for your dedication to what we were trying to do, even in the slow months.
We also want to thank our loyal customers, including the Renaissance Park community, for continued patronage. We have gained so many friends from this community and we would like to offer our apologies that we cannot keep this going for you. We really created a comfortable, warm, inviting spot to hang out, chat, and have some great beer. Our focus was on three things: Quality Beer, Quality Employees, and Building Relationships. We achieved much more than that and we walk away proud, knowing that while Brice's is coming to end soon, the memories we created will never be forgotten. Orson Welles wrote the following line and we cannot think of a more fitting way to say goodbye. βIt's weird...you know the end of something great is coming, but you want to hold on, just for one more second...just so it can hurt a little more.β
