We are heartbroken to have to announce the passing of our beloved Ruby on Wednesday. Until her last moment, she was surrounded by her family and in the arms of those who loved her. In that moment, she found peace and drifted quietly away across the rainbow bridge 🌈.
For those who have been longterm customers of Principe Winery, she was a symbol of our culture and history. Her original owner, Herman Salerno of Salerno Winery, was the inspiration for everything we do and who we are today. When he sadly passed in 2016, she was brought to our property at only the age of 2. She has since seen so much change and has been an unbreakable force throughout, managing to ride all the storms.
For us, we remember her for so much more than that. She was our consistency in the chaos and the continuous presence in all our highs and lows. She was loving and sweet, attentive to those she adored. Excited on our return after being away, whether it be after 1 week or 1 hour, presenting us with one of her many toys that she accumulated in her later years. She was the thoughtful eyes you could look into at the end of each day, knowing that through it all she was listening and helping you through.
In her final years, even as she gained more grey on her face, she seemed to feel younger and her puppy smile got bigger. Ruby showed us how excited she was for walks and playing fetch. She would wrestle with her little sister Luna even when she began to slow down as her body aged. Her tail never stopped wagging!
Ruby will forever be in our hearts and will never be forgotten. She has been the essence of this winery and a valued member of our family.
We will miss you beautiful girl and you’ll be spoken about for many years to come. Fly high our angel. You deserve all the love and happiness in the world. We’ll meet again one day ❤️
Thank you to SoCal Mobile Vet Care for all the help with Ruby’s care over the last few years and helping her be at peace. She received the best care and we couldn’t have asked for more as her family.
