The end is near! Been working with the Alcoholic Beverage Control to transfer the wine tasting license for Ramona Vintners Cellars, Inc. from the vineyard sold last October to the 125 acre farm on East Old Julian Highway in Ramona. Everything requested has been supplied - sometimes in multiple formats. Hoping that the license permitting wine tasting at this paradise property will be granted any moment! Will advise when it arrives.

Be sure to Swallow Your Wine!

Every year, swallows return to Mission San Juan Capistrano where they nest. For 23 years, I had never seen what this video now posted shows. Incredible flocks of swallows have been blessing Big Sky Ranch in Ramona. They seem to appear in the afternoon and have been doing so for several days. After their arrival each day, they race around the sky, coming and going, dashing and diving. They amass and twirl, then, fade off in the distance in a dervish way, just to return to dance above again. Over and over this goes on for more than an hour. I stood in awe watching and trying to film them. It was much more incredible to be here amongst them when they raced past my camera overhead twisting and turning. I hope you enjoy.

Maybe, they want a Mission here? Perhaps, they have given up on San Juan Capistrano and seek a better place at Big Sky Ranch?

Ramona's annual Wine Trail will be coming up soon. It is a great way partake of Ramona wineries' wines at reduced wine tasting fees. It is organized by the Ramona Valley Vineyard Association.

With County regulations, some Ramona wineries have chosen not to serve wine tastings. That is understandable as many extra precautionary steps must be taken in order to serve customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, some Ramona wineries are small and their inventory typically is depleted at this time of year forcing their closure until the Fall when they release new wines. Thus, it is best to call before attempting to visit a Ramona winery unless you know for certain that they will be open. Keep in mind that not all printed information on the Internet is up-to-date whereas a telephone call provides current information.

Now that San Diego County and the State of California have officially allowed wine tasting rooms to re-open, this FB page, Ramona Wine Tasting, will get back to making posts for your information. In this vein, let it be known that Lenora Winery located at 251 Steffy Road in Ramona has re-opened as of June 13 with hours of operation stated to be 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
