As a fi****ms instructor, there's a few things my thousands of students can agree that I teach.
1. If you're carrying your firearm, you bring your valid permit to carry and identification with you at all times, no exceptions.
2. You carry to live, you don't live to carry. That meaning you have enough training with your weapon and ammunition to end a threat and get yourself and others to safety. If you feel you are going to a place where you need spare mags, body armor, a backup gun, etc. you should probably just avoid going there.
3. Don't intentionally involve yourself in a situation when you are carrying your firearm; you don't start and you don't escalate a conflict.
4. If you are being confronted by police, always keep your hands visible and comply with their orders. If you feel you've had your rights violated, wait for your day in court. You will not win the fight against a violation of your rights on the street.
5. I normally don't even have to mention this, but if you are being placed under arrest, don't try getting into a fist fight with officers or resist arrest. You will lose.
Whether you agree with them or not, laws exist. If you intend to violate established law, be prepared to suffer the consequences of those violations. And know that if you are carrying a firearm and act aggressively towards others you will be seen as a threat.
