After culinary school, many years in the restaurant business, and many more in search of the hidden gems everwhere we travel, we have landed here to help bring support to mom & pop joints all over the country.

Just outside of Loveland, CO is a beautiful outdoor spot ripe for a good picnic or gathering. Of course the drinks are a hit!
Sweet Peach Spritz & a Strawberry/Pineapple/Orange Frosé(frozen wine) or as this redneck would call it a wine icy or a winearita. 🥂
Cheers!!!
Take a little time to relax here at Sweet Heart Winery and then head up the road just a hop skip and a jump and visit Lucky Blu Ranch and pet the Highland Cows and feed them some treats.

Best things in life are free!
First visit was on the house at Sweet Cow Ice Cream!
Best Root Beer float I’ve ever had! This local ice cream joint was making up their “Super Delicious Vanilla” right there across the counter & it was very appropriately named! Added in that Boylan Root Beer and it was an outstanding way to top off a beautiful evening in Aurora.

So warm its melting the icing. Pretty dang good stuff!
Marions of the Rockies is a diner just off the interstate in Idaho Springs & was a good choice for a southern breakfast on the journey. Ordered up the country fried steak breakfast, french toast, & finished it off w/a cinnamon roll.

Oh my love for a real Key Lime Pie!
This one was pretty special. Chef at Stout Street Social out did himself.
All of the food was excellent and I’ll write more about it later on, but just had to pop on and give a shout out to them for this beautiful creation.

House made pie w/graham cracker crust, fresh lime, & topped w/bourbon vanilla whipped cream!

Well someone has dropped the ball on telling the world about this place!
Chosen by default, but enjoyed this place immensely. Located just off Exit 10 in Marion, if you love seafood the Seafood Shack has got ya covered! They have been just off the main interstate there for over 9yrs now.
Appetizer: Fried Crawfish tails
Main: Catfish & Shrimp combo platter
Sides: Hush puppies, boiled & fried corn on the cob, fries, slaw.
Dessert: No chance! Was too stuffed!

This is a cajun joint so expect that sorta taste.
Fish was good. Fried shrimp may have been the best I’ve ever had away from the coast. Fries are the perfect fry for a fish & shrimp combo platter. Hush puppies & slaw are a huge miss, but those crawfish tails & their dipping sauce stole the show. All of their dipping sauces were absolutely great. Boiled corn on the cob was better than fried, but they were both outstanding.

Great stop on your way to Memphis or leaving from Memphis going northwest.

The owner of this place also has another local restaurant just across the parking lot called Venue. I will be trying that out on my next trip thru there.

Authentic - adjective
of undisputed origin; genuine.

When I say authentic I don’t mean a foreign place made to pacify Americans.
I fear writing this because too many Americans ruin places like this by complaining they don’t have this or that, don’t speak English, don’t have your chicken cheese & rice American dish, or even have salsa.
When I walk into El Rinconcito in Nettleton, AR there is no doubt I have stepped into an authentic restaurant. It gives me the vibes of a cozy cafe/diner in Monterrey, Mexico where the cooks are older Hispanic ladies sweating over a big pot of Caldo or Menudo, making fresh corn tortillas, or stirring us some type of sauce that will clear your sinuses from the heat.
There is no chips & salsa. They greet you with a bowl of sopita. No menus. Food options are written on a dry erase board. Drinks are in tall glass bottles. And the flavors will make you feel like you have missed out in life.
I’m not even gonna tell ya what to try because I’ve had everything on the menu & love em all! The huaraches are some of my fav things, but the tortas are maybe the best sandwich in all of NE Arkansas. They have 2 sauce bottles on the tables & they are both amazing, but that red sauce is a beautiful thing!
Use google if you want to know what something is or looks like because the English is very limited in this place. There is no dessert, so just fill up on trying new things.
There are a handful of truly authentic Mexican joints in NE Arkansas, but this is the only spot in NE Arkansas that I eat at weekly because its just that good.
When you visit just know this is THEIR culture. This is how they want it to be because its their piece of “home”. Enjoy it, and love on them well!
This place is soooo special! Please do not ruin it for the rest of us or for the special lady’s who run this place!

Such a great place to stop, especially on a hot summer day!
From the lemonades to the ice cream, and all the sweet treats in between, this is def one of the coolest places in all of NE Arkansas!
Applelicious Gourmet Apples and Treats is in a quaint little spot in downtown Paragould just made for a sweet spot.
The variety of candied apples & homemade treats is almost overwhelming. So many great choices. You just can’t go wrong w/stopping off here for a visit!

You know we wouldn’t miss the reopening of an actual local restaurant in NE Arkansas!
Yesterday was the Grand Re-Opening of a Jonesboro staple, Gina's Place!
They have moved around the corner from their old location, from Highland to Caraway Rd. Hours are the same and menu is the same, but there is an all new look, some new faces on staff, and much more convenient parking!
There are still lines to the door, lots of regulars visiting, and the familiar down home home country vittles.
Going to an opening, you always know you will have to be patient, but things were much smoother than most openings I’ve been to.
I thought if I went around 1pm that maybe some of the craziness might have subsided, but also should have known that would mean they would be out of some things.
I was just there to support an actual local business more than to eat something certain, so I kept it easy since they were out of some things. I ordered their BLT. Their friers were down so no tots, so I went w/the bag of chips. And I’d never tried their pies, so I just told the sweet lady taking my order to give me a slice of their best.
It was a good visit, and good to see life breathed back into an old building. They were still working out little issues, but I know they want things squared away more than any customer does.
Very soon they will be running full steam and be the place we have all come to know over the past 40 yrs.
Stop by and see them! BE PATIENT!!! If you want to be rude, stay home and heat up a frozen dinner. The city didn’t show up for a parade and circus like they do for the big chains, but this place deserves the respect they have earned as a loyal place that could have packed it all up and closed down after being forced out of their old location. Treat them well, and visit often!
