You know we wouldn’t miss the reopening of an actual local restaurant in NE Arkansas!
Yesterday was the Grand Re-Opening of a Jonesboro staple, Gina's Place!
They have moved around the corner from their old location, from Highland to Caraway Rd. Hours are the same and menu is the same, but there is an all new look, some new faces on staff, and much more convenient parking!
There are still lines to the door, lots of regulars visiting, and the familiar down home home country vittles.
Going to an opening, you always know you will have to be patient, but things were much smoother than most openings I’ve been to.
I thought if I went around 1pm that maybe some of the craziness might have subsided, but also should have known that would mean they would be out of some things.
I was just there to support an actual local business more than to eat something certain, so I kept it easy since they were out of some things. I ordered their BLT. Their friers were down so no tots, so I went w/the bag of chips. And I’d never tried their pies, so I just told the sweet lady taking my order to give me a slice of their best.
It was a good visit, and good to see life breathed back into an old building. They were still working out little issues, but I know they want things squared away more than any customer does.
Very soon they will be running full steam and be the place we have all come to know over the past 40 yrs.
Stop by and see them! BE PATIENT!!! If you want to be rude, stay home and heat up a frozen dinner. The city didn’t show up for a parade and circus like they do for the big chains, but this place deserves the respect they have earned as a loyal place that could have packed it all up and closed down after being forced out of their old location. Treat them well, and visit often!
