Dear Robert,

Good morning! I'm excited to announce that it's time to reserve fresh whole ducks.

The ducks arrived in early April amidst a blizzard, survived a power outage, and have since grown beautifully. Once they were a month old, they were able to start free ranging around the farm and living their best duck life!

It's wonderful to see them eating snails and slugs off the pasture, scavenging the ditches and streams and swimming in the pond. I'm confident that this will be the best duck you've ever had!

Come pick up your fresh-not frozen- duck on Friday afternoon from 3-5PM. Or pickup at the Montpelier Farmers Market this Saturday, June 15th.

The ducks are $12 a lb. and will weigh between 4-7lbs.

To reserve your ducks, simply reply to this post with your name and the number of ducks you would like! :))

All my best,
Farmer Robert

Good morning! I hope you're getting to soak up some vitamin D today. It's so nice to have beautiful sunshine again.

The other day I read an article about grocery prices continuing to increase, even though inflation is cooling.

Honestly, I think this is due to food prices being subsidized for so long that we have grown out of touch with how expensive it is to produce food.

I believe that we "pay" for the food one way or the other. Yes, fresh raw milk from a small organic farm is more than milk from the store.

But what about the costs to the environment from large scale industrial farming? What about many farmworkers being overworked and underpaid?

I truly believe that buying direct from small farmers you know and trust is the way forward for a better future.

And I'm here for you doing just that- getting up every day and caring for my animals so I can put real healthy food on your table.

Click here to support my work by buying a milk subscription.

I've been very thankful that my costs have not increased any this past year. Because that means I can keep my prices the same as last year as well.

Milk subscriptions not only are a savings for you, but also a chunk of cash to put towards this years hay or a new fence for me.

Good morning!

"Breathe....enjoy the present moment.

One thing at a time...everything will take its place."

That's what I've been telling myself the last three weeks as I've been adjusting to college classes again while also keeping up with everything on the farm.

I'm taking some challenging courses this semester such as Organic Chemistry and Physics...

I love bringing the cows down for evening milking every night, because it gives me a chance to breathe deeply and let my mind rest.

After the hot humid weather last week, the milking ladies are loving these early fall days. They spend every possible moment out grazing, munching on wild apples and chewing their cud.

I snapped a few pictures last evening of me bringing them down the hill for milking time.

Sharon is the one lying down on the closeup picture! She was just a baby calf not long ago and now she's pregnant and will be having her first calf next February. :)

I hope you enjoyed this snapshot of my evening routine and that it reminds you to pause and enjoy the simple, special moments in your life.

Here's to fall!
Robert

One of my fellow vendors at the Montpelier Farmers Market, Kagan gets raw milk from me every week.

Before he's struggled with allergy issues in the summer. But since he's been drinking my milk, the allergies are gone! Raw milk is a natural anti-allergenic.

Almost every week, I hear from one of my customers how my raw milk is healing them.

This kind of dairy farming is very hard, humble work, but so important to our health and wellbeing.

Please support my small three cow dairy by buying a milk subscription! Thank you.

Have a great day!
Robert

Finally getting my cows hay for the winter!

Yes, this is the first cutting from this field and surprisingly it doesn't look that bad.

I'm also buying in some really high quality bales to mix in with this stuff.

Caleb is running the bale wrapper this year! :) We made a good team.

I'll be off the farm and at the Northfield Farmers Market this afternoon from 3-6 PM.

Come hang with us!

🙂 Robert

My heart goes out to everyone that's been affected by this flooding! This is such a tragic time for our state.

Some of you have reached out to ask how our farm was and all the animals. We were fine, thankfully, because we're up on a hill. All the animals were either in the barn or up high on the hills!

Sadly our neighbors and our hayfields in the valley (along Route 14 and the Second Branch of the White River) were hit. It's been a crazy time-- some of our neighbors live across the river and were cut off by the flooding river. So they've been coming up through our hayfield to get out!

I'm thankful that the impact here was minimal. It's so sad seeing pictures and videos of farms, businesses and homes affected by the flooding especially in the Montpelier area.

If you're wondering about the Montpelier Farmers Market this Saturday-- it is still happening, just not at the normal location. The normal spot was under four feet of water on Tuesday and is still being cleaned up.

So the market is on the green at the VT College of Fine Arts this Saturday from 9-1.

If it's safe for you to travel, come see me and get your raw milk and eggs. :) It'll be a different market for sure, so why not come experience it?!

I'd also love to see you at my farm store this week. I'm open Wed- Sat 8-5.

There's an adorable, snuggly little calf to see named Firework! She was born on the Fourth of July. I'd love to show her to you.

With love,
Robert

Good morning!

Introducing you to the milking ladies this morning.

Sunflower- the solid brown Jersey cow. She us my sweet old gal who produces lots of raw milk every day.

She's been here the longest of all my cows. Before I bought her she was going to be culled to make room for younger cows.

I'm so glad she's been able to have a second life here with me.

Stormy- the dark dark chocolate brown cow. She's a young cow who just had her first calf in May. She's classy, and lives up to her name. A bit stormy at milking time!! 😂

Rachael- along with calf Rivendell. She's not a Jersey, but actually a Brown Swiss/ Guernsey cross. I find her colors really striking and a nice burst of color. She's due to have a calf on Wednesday!

The cute little brown calf is named Advent. I'm raising three of my sisters beef calves here to help eat up extra grass.

And happy lambies....because why not?

It's summer, ya'll! I hope each of you are soaking it up.

Have a jolly day,
Robert

Good morning on this beautiful day!

The sun is out, yay!

The Fourth of July is next Tuesday... already. I know it's not just me who feels like this summer is flying by.

I enjoy chatting with each of you at the market and hearing about your summer activities-- camping trips, gardening (including warding off hungry bears!), trips to the Maine coast. And just spending time with family and friends around a campfire in the evenings.

If you're looking for a summer feast for your family next week, I've got some help for you!

Introducing "DELCIOUS LAMB BBQ" recipe:

This Lamb BBQ takes some work but it's so worth it.

Come to the Montpelier Farmers Market tomorrow from 9-1 to get your Lamb Shoulder Roast. This is the first time I'll have lamb at that market.

Enjoy the sunshine,
Robert

Does anyone know why there are leaves turning red in late June? 🤔

These are Red Maple trees and should not be turning red until October!

The weather this year has been challenging for sure....

We had a very hard frost on late May.

Then it was hot and dry for a couple weeks...

Now, the last month has been cool, cloudy and hazy (from the forest fires in Canada).

I'm wishing for some sun and blue sky so haymaking can happen.

But the weather is not in my control, so I'll just practice looking for the best in each day.

It's so easy to focus on the negative instead of what's actually going well.

My mind often defaults to worrying about the weather instead of being thankful for happy healthy cows and a sold out milk supply!

But if anyone else knows why there are leaves turning red, it would take a load off my mind! Hehe.

Have a great evening,
Robert

Good morning! I'm excited to announce that we are harvesting fresh meat ducks this Thursday.

You're invited to "Duck Pickup Party" on Thursday June 22nd from 3-4 in the afternoon.

Come pickup freshly harvested, never frozen duck!

And I'm serving free homemade vanilla ice cream-- with maple sugar on top. Yummy!

These ducks have brought a smile to my face every single day since they arrived on the farm in April.

They happily free range through the pastures and love messing around in the drainage.

They've even learned a special call for feeding time: "la la la la lee" :)

Their duck life has been happy and lived to the fullest and now it's time for them to become a feast for your family.

To reserve yours simply reply to this email: [email protected]
and let me know how many you would like.

The ducks will dress out 6-8lbs each and are $8 a pound.

Last year, the ducks were a hot item and sold out fast.

I'm looking forward to seeing you on Thursday at the farm store. :)

Cheers,
Robert

P.S. You can also pickup a frozen duck at the Montpelier Farmers Market this Saturday.

Last week one of my customers brought me a stack of stickers that say, "Raw Milk is Medicine."

I loved that so much and have been handing them out at the farmers market.

Raw milk is magic.

Especially the fresh raw milk that comes from my three Jersey cows Sunflower, Rachael and Stormy!

But there are many misconceptions around raw milk. "Is it safe? What does it taste like? Is it really better for you than pasteurized milk?"

I've put together a free guide called: "Five Ways Raw Milk Boosts your Health."

Hop on my website using this link. A little form will pop up so you can get this guide sent to you.
