I used to to think momentum was everything and that to slow down or even stop was—GASP—the worst thing ever.

I didn’t understand that pausing a thing is very different than stopping a thing. And stopping a thing for a little while OR a long while isn’t a sign of failure.

Sometimes you’ve got to take a moment, clear the board, and set it all up again

Hi there! I haven’t introduced myself in a very long time, and we have some new folks joining us, so let’s go!

I’m Jenn. I’ve spent most of my adult life actively trying to save the world, seeking out answers to fix core problems (not just put bandaids on symptoms). I’m intensely loving and intensely loyal. Sometimes that’s gotten me in trouble (no, I’m not a stalker!), mostly in the form of burnout, poor boundaries, people pleasing, and putting the health of my own body at the bottom of a very long list.

After 30 years of working in agriculture and environmental programs, I finally realized people are the problem, including me!

I jumped off a cliff into leadership, self-development, trauma, and interoception. Now I bring those conversations into my work alongside grazing, research, and complex systems. That includes calling out inequality and where racism, misogyny, and transphobia are F’ing things up.

Part of my work is practicing showing up, and standing up for the world I believe in, so that you can live in a world you believe in, too. ❤️

Our trip home from Philly was a bit quieter as we integrated all of our experiences, the art, the food, and the GREEN that’s still not quite arrived yet in Vermont. I was grateful on the train (yet another fantastic thing!) that I was able join two calls with the Global Agritourism Conference Scholars and Presenters. I’ve got some exciting experiences coming up this year…the Mel trip with Beth was a perfect start! ❤️

Despite all of the amazing conversations and side quests(!), the purpose of our trip to Philly was actually to see Mel Robbins in her Let Them Theory Tour. I’ve been a fan of Mel’s previous books and have found them to be really helpful at different points in my life to get to the next stages of believing in myself and taking action. I eventually became a Canfield Success Principles Trainer and RIM Facilitator because of some of the things Mel’s books helped me do.

I was fascinated by how she told stories to illustrate her points, and how she engaged the people she was teaching. I give her huge props to have built a brand this powerful as a woman speaking largely to other women. And I think many of the things she teaches are true.

And, I notice that her audience is largely white women. And I notice that she is extremely quiet on the impacts of Let Them in the face of fascist authoritarianism and inequality. I notice that Microsoft CoPilot was a named sponsor of the tour…she self-deprecated by saying that she must be a terrible business woman by giving everyone in the audience a notebook, but I know how how sponsorship works and she did not spend a penny of her own money on those notebooks.

I notice that she left the audience feeling the positive energy of their dreams AND she has a powerful voice she does not use to help ALL women, not just white ones.

I have no regrets about going, but I think I’ll take the principles I’ve learned and try to do good for everyone, thanks. Let Me elevate the incredible people I read and learn from these days who are really making a difference, like and

Welcome to the Philadelphia Reading Market.

Some people go nuts over jewelry or cars. Some farmers lose it for livestock. A whole building with food, local crafts, and takeaways from the next town over to across the world all in once place?? 🤯

I took pictures all over, and ran options by . In the end, I ran around between 6 or 7 vendors to buy dinner, all my train meals home, and treats to cook up in the future.

I see you, Reading Market. And I WILL see you again!

Have you ever traveled by train? I love it. My trip last week to Philadelphia was a perfect reminder of some things I love about the train:
It’s relaxing—we don’t have to stay awake, we aren’t cramped in one place, and we can get up to p*e any time.
The people you meet on a train are special. They are willing to take a little extra time, they are happy to help each other.
The conductors are SO great. Super helpful, friendly. If you have accessibility needs and get help from a Red Cap, you might even learn about the history of the station.
The VIEWS out a train window are truly special. They p*ek into backyards and over rivers. Trains are IN neighborhoods. For nerds like me who love to learn about how people live, it can show you whole different cultures.

If you ever have a chance to take the train, I highly recommend it!
