Thanks for Connecting with Your Co-op again this year 🌟

We were so happy to celebrate our local roots for a third year with you! To our Owners and shoppers who showed up to shake the hands that feed you on Saturday, thank you.

At Breadroot Co-op, we want you to feel connected to your food. Within the food chain in America, we aren't often afforded the opportunity to get to know the people who produce the products on our tables and in our cabinets, let alone shake their hands and chat with them face-to-face.

Thank you all for taking the time to swing by the Co-op to connect with and support the small businesses that were started right here in the Black Hills by your neighbors. One small connection can build up a whole lot of community, which is what Co-ops are for! See you next year!

Three years ago, we started Connect With Your Co-op as an avenue for our shoppers to deepen their connection with their food. Do you know who grows your food? This is your chance to find out, face-to-face! Breadroot Co-op wants you to shake the hands that feed you. Meet the people behind your favorite products, discover and support the small businesses that were started right here in the Black Hills by your neighbors, and celebrate community connections.

From 10am to 4pm on Saturday, October 10th, our parking lot will be packed with producers, farmers, and makers; alongside, a few community organizations.

We've been keeping a super sweet secret 🤫

We brought our heads together with the Leones' sisters to come up with our very own Breadroot Ice Cream! Candied Carrot 🥕 w/ Pecans will be making its way to the board Leones Creamery Scoop Shop and onto our shelves at the Co-op on Friday, October 23rd!

From 5pm–7pm at the shop, Leone's will be hosting Breadroot Members & shoppers for a Member meet-up and ice cream social to celebrate! See you in 2 weeks 🍨❤️‍🔥

We can't thank Magpie Farm enough for supplying the beautiful LOCAL carrots for this collab. 😚😚😚

Connect With Your Co-op: Vendor Spotlights 🥕

Here at Breadroot Co-op, our top priority is cultivating a closer connection between you and your food. Meet the people behind your favorite products, discover and support the small businesses that were started right here in the Black Hills by your neighbors, and celebrate community connections. Read a little bit about our vendors below:

Connect with Bri from G R O U N D E D who will be slinging local burgers (with local cheese!) and acai bowls! She regularly runs Grounded Food Truck up in Spearfish, SD, and if you haven't tried her food yet YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

Connect with Joe & Ashley of Sage & Cedar Herbal Tea Co.! They are our local tea vendor (found in the Bulk aisle!) from Spearfish, SD. Founded by two lifelong Black Hills locals with a passion for plant medicine! They will be serving up teas & sharing their plant wisdom with you all!

Connect with Barry & Kirsten of Laka Herb Farm, a couple of herbalists working hands-on to create medicinal salves from planting to packaging.

Connect with Harriet & Oak, who will be serving up specialty coffees at our event! You can find Oak Roasters in the gravity bins of the Bulk aisle and grind the beans up fresh right here at your Co-op!

Connect with Brita of Sweet Fluff Cotton Candy! She spins up natural organic cotton candy right here in Rapid City.

Connect with Rapid City Public Library, our local public library and community resource.

Connect with Dahl Arts Center, our community arts center!

Connect with Black Hills Parks & Forests, the official non-profit partner supporting our regional public lands!

We will also be doing a donation drive for Working Against Violence Inc. at the Breadroot Booth! WAVI is in desperate need of NEW items such as women's undergarments, shampoo & conditioner, sweats, and t-shirts. Donations will be provided to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the region.

Do you enjoy nature, art, and snacks from Breadroot Natural Foods Co-op?

Join us on Friday, Oct. 9th from 4-6 p.m. for the opening of "What Grows When We Gather," hosted by Rapid City Arts Council at the Arts Center.

Created by local teacher Sophia Clarke, the exhibit is grounded in the living landscapes of the Black Hills and invites visitors to reflect on prompts like "What have you planted here?"
