Every once in a while, one of your calves makes the decision for you.
Meet Remus of Black Hills Highlands.
Remus came to us with his dam, Jela of Willow Glen and sired by KHH Atticus 1944—a pairing that does not disappoint. We purchased all three late last year.
Not even a year old yet, and he is already a stout, powerful young bull. He’s filling out beautifully, carries himself correctly in both posture and movement, and has that presence that makes you stop and look twice. And his temperament? Exactly what we expect from both sides—calm, steady, and easy to be around. The head of a king, just like I want ...Oh and that rump! A beautiful rump!!!
Do we really "need" another bull? Well...
We didn’t have an AHCA registered dun bull in our program… so keeping him made perfect sense… right? 😉
Truth is, we’ve been so impressed with Atticus calves that we retained 7 of them this year (the other 6 are heifers) . That alone says a lot about the quality of Atticus.
Atticus himself brings some incredible lineage—he’s a brother to Flathead Wyoming (one of my personal favorites), and those lines trace back quickly to Ben Eniglair of Scone Palace… which is about as close to Highland royalty as it gets along with a host of cattle from breeders I respect.
And Jela… she is just as pretty and correct as they come. We feel incredibly lucky to have her in our herd.
Remus is the kind that reminds you why you love Highlands.
And yeah… we’re pretty excited about him. Mike is the AHCA geek, I just think they are beautiful and fun and his craving allows me to have large herd
He is a bit of a goofball so I will work on some pics, he has an incredible coat of thick lush hair and loves to be brushed.
