Successful Succulents

Join Jennifer Guzzetta of Kush and Pronk Farm, and learn how to grow and propagate succulents and cacti. In this class, students will learn about a variety of succulents and how to care for them, how to treat common diseases and pests associated with succulents and will build their own planter & take a plant.
Protect The Pollinators: Designing and Installing Pollinator Friendly Gardens & Landscaping.

Join Jennifer Guzzetta of Kush and Pronk Farm and learn about pollinator friendly lawn care, gardening, and landscaping with a focus on native UP plants. Learn which native species help with attracting bees, butterflies, and songbirds year-round. You will also learn how different lawn-care and gardening practices help with decreasing pest populations while increasing desired diversity; how to design a personalized pollinator patch for your desired area, and make a mini native plant greenhouse, growing a small variety of native UP plants to transplant in May / June to start your own pollinator garden.
Permaculture UP: How to Grow Food, Every Year, Year Round in the UP

What is Permaculture and how can it be done in the UP? Widen your palate: grow and eat possible "new to you" native foods. Perennial food bearing plants for the UP, berries, bushes, trees, tubers, and herbs as well as old hearty foods for the UP. Learn about greenhouse gardening and how to start for cheap. Students will also learn the best practices for planning your growing area.
Intro to Handspinning
Wednesday, April 22; 6:00 to 8:00 pm

From animals to fully spun yarn, participants will be able to experience a hands-on learning experience that details how natural fibers are processed via hand spinning. One of our angora rabbits will be used for demonstrating the harvesting of raw fibers from an animal. Hand carders, a spinning wheel, and drop spindles will be available for participants to sample the full hand spinning process after an in-depth description and demonstration is provided. Hand spinning starter kits that include a KPF handmade wooden drop spindle and 1 ounce of hand carded KPF fiber will be available for purchase for $40 after the class for participants interested in getting started right away.
