Glenmary Family Farm

Glenmary Family Farm Glenmary Farm is nestled between the Rapidan River and Clarks Mountain in Orange County Virginia and is owned by Tom and Kim Nixon.

It's a 380 acre farm with an additional 3,500 acres rented, of which 2,000 acres are devoted to crop production. Over the past twenty years the farm has grown into a grain, turkey and a highly diversified beef operation. Although we continue to grow and look for avenues to enhance our farming operation one thing has always remained the same and that is the commitment to work hard. Tom and Kim have

established a total program that ensures their strength and success in meeting the demands of today's cattlemen.

Today we had the great honor and pleasure of participating in a roundtable discussion with US Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and National Advisor for Nutrition & Health, Dr. Ben Carson. Roughly 15 farmers were at the table and we had the chance to introduce ourselves and share the current concerns and issues we are facing in a very volatile farming economy. The meeting was concluded with press for a special announcement from the Secretaries about their new small processor initiative which will hopefully ease some constraints we are currently dealing with.

We left the meeting feeling encouraged about where things are headed for our industry. They are working on a lot of very good things that are unfortunately just going to take time. Secretary Rollins was very dynamic and personable and she truly has a very good understanding of the many sectors within the agriculture industry.

We were blessed to share this very cool experience and I hope we are able to meet with her again some day!

The spring rush has already had us so busy we’ve neglected to share an exciting opportunity!

It’s SALE WEEK for the Virginia Angus Association Genetic Investment Sale at the Virginia Beef Expo, this Thursday, April 16th at 12:30 p.m. and we will be offering two embryo packages.

Lot 9A is 3 IVF Embryos out of Mohnen Jilt 173, sired by LT Flint 4005. The calf reports on LT Flint look to be very promising and we are excited to get some of these on the ground ourselves!

Lot 9B is 3 IVF Embryos out of Montana Black Ceyla 2026, sired by LT Chosen 2132. Most notably, LT Chosen is the sire of the recent high selling $800,000 Koupals B&B Inevitable. We already have some calves out of this Chosen mating on the ground and we are VERY excited for their future!

This will be the ONLY genetic opportunity offered from these two females this spring. Don’t sleep on these matings!
