❤️ A Little Update from Darlene's Kitchen ❤️

I was really looking forward to having the tent and tables set up this weekend, but unfortunately, I've come down with a bug and need to take a little time to get better.

As much as I hate missing another weekend, I would never want to risk passing anything along to any of you.

I know things have been a little hit or miss lately, and I can't thank you all enough for your patience, kindness, and continued support. It truly means more to me than you know! ❤️

Now, for a little bit of exciting news! 🎉

Our new building, Darlene's Sweet Shoppe, is officially finished! We're just waiting for it to be delivered! I can't wait to get everything set up and finally welcome you all to our little shoppe!

Hopefully, I'll be feeling better soon and back to sharing some homemade goodness with you!

Sending love and thanks to each of you! ❤️

I’m back from Pittsburgh, but I was only home for a few hours before heading back out to care for my granddaughter while my daughter is still in the hospital. Her surgery was more complicated than expected, but she’s starting to feel a little better. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. ❤️

Thank you all for being so patient and understanding while I’m away. I appreciate each and every one of you. I won’t be back in the kitchen until Wednesday morning at the earliest.

I know some of you have been looking for the stand. The building still hasn’t arrived, but weather permitting, I hope to have the tent and tables out this weekend. I’ll post details about where to find me—and the full menu—soon. Caramel apples are coming! 🍎

✨ WE HAVE A NAME! ✨

Thank you all so much for the wonderful suggestions! After reading every one and talking it over with my family, there was one name that simply felt like it belonged.

I’m so excited to introduce…

🩷 Darlene’s Sweet Shoppe 🩷

Darlene’s Kitchen was named in honor of my mom, and Darlene’s Sweet Shoppe feels like the perfect name for this next chapter—one that honors her while continuing a much larger family tradition.

Ruth Tester suggested the winning name, so she will receive a special Grand Opening Treat Box when we open! 🎉

But we had so many wonderful entries that we decided to choose two more winners:

🧁 One winner will receive one dozen assorted macarons
🧁 One winner will receive a six-pack of assorted macarons

Everyone will receive one entry for every name they submitted. I’ll enter all the names into an online prize wheel and let it randomly select both winners—so once the entries are added, the results will be completely out of my hands!

All three prizes will be available on the official opening day of Darlene’s Sweet Shoppe. I’ll announce the two additional winners soon!

Thank you for helping us name this special little shop and for being part of our journey. I cannot wait to open the doors and welcome you inside! 🩷

Y’all… I am almost speechless—and you know that doesn’t happen often! 😂

SWVA Chow Time recently reviewed two of my treats, and I cannot believe the scores:

🍋 Lemon Starburst Macaron — 9.1 out of 10!
🍌 Banana Pudding Blondie — 8.8 out of 10!

I am absolutely over the moon! I put so much time, care, and experimenting into creating my recipes, so hearing such wonderful feedback means more to me than I can say.

A huge thank-you to SWVA Chow Time for taking the time to try and review my treats—and to every one of you who has supported Darlene’s Kitchen, purchased from me, shared my posts, or encouraged me along the way. Moments like this make all those long days and late nights in the kitchen completely worth it!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go celebrate that 9.1 for a little while! 🥹🍋💛

Just a little update from Darlene’s Kitchen 💗

I will not be taking any orders or opening at all this weekend. I’m getting ready to head to Pittsburgh to be with my daughter for her back surgery next week. Between preparing for the trip and trying out a couple of new recipes—hint, hint… cinnamon rolls and caramel apples! 🍎🤎—I need to take this weekend to get everything ready.

I’ll be gone for part of next week, but provided everything goes well, I’ll be back in town for the weekend if anyone needs anything.

As for the grand opening of the new building, I’m hoping for the first or second weekend of October! We’re still waiting to find out exactly when the building will arrive, so I can’t set a firm date just yet. I’ll share more as soon as I know.

Thank you all for understanding, and please keep my daughter in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through surgery and recovery. 💕

UPDATE: I will be turning off comments at midnight tonight, so get those names in while you can!

Here she is—a first look at our little cottage (AI style)! 🏡🤎

Now it’s time for the Pick My Name Giveaway! “Bake stand” doesn’t quite fit, because the cottage will have Darlene’s Kitchen treats and goodies from others too.

What would you name it? Leave your ideas in the comments. I’ll pick a few favorites from your suggestions, then put those names up for you to vote on. The person who suggested the winning name will receive a special Grand Opening Treat Box! 🧁🍪

I can’t wait to hear your ideas!

🍂 Three more delicious additions are joining this weekend’s menu!

🍠 Loaded Sweet Potato Casserole Blondies — soft, warmly spiced sweet potato blondies loaded with marshmallow and finished with a buttery pecan topping. These truly taste like sweet potato casserole turned into dessert! And these are gluten and dairy free, but you'd never know it.

🍎 Apple Fritter Bread — packed with tender apples, cinnamon, and plenty of allspice, pictured fresh from the oven before its finishing glaze.

☕ Spiced Russian Tea Mix — a cozy orange-spice drink mix that’s quick and easy to prepare whenever you want a warm cup at home.

These will all be coming with me to the Cedar Bluff Heritage Festival this Saturday. Quantities will be limited, so come see me early near the back of the gazebo toward the elementary school! 🩷
