The tomato market is facing severe supply shortages and rapidly rising prices due to weather-related damage in Florida and Mexico, with the tightest conditions expected over the next 3–5 weeks. Meaningful improvement isn’t expected until late April to early May as new growing regions ramp up production, with Roma tomatoes remaining the most heavily impacted.

As your valued partner, we will do the best we can to get you what you need, but please be made aware of these conditions.

Violence following the February 22 cartel operation has caused major roadblocks, reroutes, and refrigerated freight shortages, leading to delays and higher costs across Mexico’s produce supply chain.

Key commodities, including tomatoes, peppers, avocados, mangos, limes, and berries, may experience slowed movement with continued volatility expected in the days ahead.

We will keep you informed as we know more, thank you!

As we enter another growing region transition, below are some important updates we are experiencing in the market:

Recent rain followed by warm, humid conditions is putting pressure on crops as the season winds down.

Lettuce & Broccoli: Increased disease and insect pressure are reducing yields and shelf life. Extra trimming is affecting color and pack quality.

Strawberries: Harvest delays and tighter supply in Santa Maria and Oxnard due to bruising and mildew. Mexico crossings expected mid-November.

Citrus: Small fruit remains limited. Early California Navels and lemons are trending larger, keeping pressure on small sizes.

With continued warmth and humidity in the forecast, quality concerns remain. As your valued partners, we will do our best to ship the best possible product available, but ask for your patience during this time as we navigate these industry wide issues.
