We just started our first week of artificial breeding. On 50 head in which the 7 & 7 Synch protocol was utilized, the estrous response rate thus far has been phenomenal. 20% are in total standing heat prior to or immediately right at 24 hours past CIDR removal and prostaglandin injection (and that number includes a couple of first calf heifers in lesser body condition). It is very apparent that another approximately 10-15% will be at that equivalent stage very shortly, in a couple of hours or so, as those additionals are evidencing extremely strong secondary heat signs, most notably jumping. The timing for use of sexed straws is therefore being made easier, as standing is literally occurring with such strength and obviousness that it is undeniable determining the initial standing moments.
