The world lost another culinary genius.
With sincere condolences, I share the passing of Dave Brennan, a man who played a large part in bringing fine dining to Berks County.
In my early years, I was blessed to wash dishes, make salads, and prepare hot appetizers at the Chat-A-While Inn. People came from New York City, Philadelphia, and Allentown to dine there. That was unheard of at the time for a place on Butter Lane. His vision was groundbreaking.
More than anything, Dave taught me respect for the way he handled fine dining in his time. He set a standard that few around here had seen before. Many of us who passed through his kitchen carry a piece of him in everything we do.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched. Thank you, Dave. Rest easy, Chef.
