Staff member highlight: Meet Hank, our Deputy Chief of Security!

He was hired to be Chief but wasn’t quite ready for the job and is happily Rosie’s devoted back up.
He’s a 1 year old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd/English Mastiff mix who works all night and begs for food most of the day. He is the eternal optimist who believes that every empty bowl will miraculously deliver a morsel if he just believes! His favorite food is a farm fresh egg.

He joined the Ranch last July as a wee pup and has been a great addition to the crew around here.
He is a very good boy!

Southern Virginia's drought is still going strong, but we did get a nice little tease with three days of rain. That rain was enough to make everything green again, but the grass isn't growing much at all. We're having to get creative around here.

The sheep are back behind the fence line where I've been doing some clearing and they're finding all the good stuff to eat. That green stuff in the picture is almost all poison ivy, but the sheep said, 'Bring it on!' They love it

We've got some registered St Croix ram lambs that we plan on banding next week. If you might want one later this year, let me know and we'll leave one intact for you. We don't have any ewes left, but let me know if you want to be in the list for next year (Katahdin/St Croix crosses, and registered 100% St Croix lambs)

This was today's surprise!St Croix ram lamb. Let me know if you want him when he's ready.to go later this year
