Incredibly proud of Charlotte this week! She worked her tail off taking care of her animals in the 107° weather, all with a great attitude.

She also showed her animals well!

• First place advanced FFA poultry showmanship
• First place FFA small animal round robin

• First place advanced FFA dairy goat showmanship (pictured is her showmanship doe, Luna Oaks Cappis Crouton)
• Fourth place FFA large animal round robin

She also sold her poultry meat pen this afternoon – very big thank you to Platinum Construction.

Also, swipe to the end to see Squiggle’s least favorite thing ever…

I *officially* finished my year at the WSU dairy about a week ago, and it was a huge learning experience (but still a good time).

While I don’t love snow (genuinely SO much respect for y’all calving and kidding out in -20° weather), I do love cows, and I have so much appreciation for the role they play in efficient, sustainable food production.

I’ve spent the last year learning about the inner workings of a commercial dairy, milk quality, herd health, and of course, how to speak “cow” (because a cow really won’t move unless IT wants to).

All that being said, it’s so great to see the parallels between commercial dairy cattle and goat production, because both act as production animals who are selectively bred to thrive in a dairy setting.

Essay aside, I still have a million cow pictures on my phone. Excited to be home with the goats!

Babies are here! We kidded our 3 get of sire does from nationals using a La Mancha jr herd sire. They act just like alpines but cute little ears.
If you are interested in some bottle bucklings for pack or pets, let us know. They are pretty cute ❤️
