BoneFrog Family!

Today is the day we’ve been waiting for. My youngest daughter, Sarah, and I have been working on this project for over a year. It’s a unique way to talk about the life of a military brat and, more specifically, the life of a child growing up in the special operations community. In the SEAL world, the kids are affectionately called tadpoles, and with that in mind, we’ve named this bag Lil' Frog. This is a rare look behind the curtain at something that’s seldom discussed.

The graphic on the front of this bag depicts Sarah climbing a fast rope to the ceiling at our SEAL unit. The kids would often come over after school and work out at the unit with all of the guys. I would stand at the bottom watching with a smile on my face, jaw clenched with anxiety, as they climbed all the way to the ceiling and back. They were fearless. They didn’t know any better, and they were living their lives the way we all should.

Sarah chose this coffee.
It's an exquisite single-origin from Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee. Grown at high altitude and light roasted to bring out every nuance and undertone this incredible coffee holds. You’ll notice undertones of blueberries and cream, red cherries, and strawberries, with a sweet finish of dark honey. Sarah hand-selected this coffee through multiple cuppings, searching for the right farm that carried the exact notes she wanted to share with you.

This coffee reflects the inner beauty and strength of my daughter, and I’m so proud to share it with all of you. I hope you enjoy it as much as the two of us do.

We’ve been keeping a little secret around here, and the excitement is starting to spill over.

For almost a year now, I’ve been working side-by-side with my youngest daughter Sarah on a brand new coffee roast. What started as a shared passion project turned into countless cupping sessions, late night conversations, and more cups of coffee than we can count. Early on we took a clear change in direction following the very specific tasting notes Sarah had in her mind from the beginning. She knew exactly the profile she wanted, and we refused to settle for anything less.

We’ve done a tremendous amount of tasting and adjusting, roasting, cupping, refining, cupping again until every sip lined up with her vision. At the same time, we’ve poured just as much care into the bag design. Every detail carries deep personal meaning, and we can’t wait for you to see (and feel) the story it tells.

This Friday, our next email will reveal everything: the roast, the name, the bag, and the full story behind it.

Until then… we want your best guesses.

OP300 was founded in honor of Special Operations Chief (SEAL) Aaron Carson Vaughn, SEAL Team Six, Gold Squadron. He was one of 30 American service members lost when Extortion 17 went down in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011, the deadliest single day for U.S. forces in that war.

His family turned their grief into a mission: caring for the families left behind. Adventure camps for Gold Star, White Star, and fallen officer children, each paired with a mentor. Healing programs for Gold Star fathers. Support for families carrying the weight of sacrifice.

10% of all proceeds from our OP300 coffee and K-Cups go directly to fund these programs.
